Hello,
I bought a used chip (from Kerscher), and I didn't compare the engine control unit number icon_sad.gif.
The chips are intended for use in control units with the last three digits being 171.
My numbers are 0281 001 308/309 and 028 906 021.
And I don't know if they will work for me.
Can anything break?
Are the control units identical?

Hello Sascha,
'I haven't experienced any ECU failures during EPROM replacements yet, but I'm now certain that there are multiple hardware revisions of the 8-bit ECUs, specifically the MSA12 type, that are not compatible with each other.'
The chip you purchased is designed for a 90 horsepower Golf with engine control unit (ECU) number 028906021C. Your ECU is a 028906021AF (used from 10/1994 onwards).
You can insert the chips, but I don't think anything will happen.

hello
The problem is the turbo pressure sensor.
There is a 250 kPa sensor installed in your control unit.
The other control unit only has a 200 kPa sensor.
Plainly put: one version goes up to a boost pressure of 1.5 bar.
The other one only goes up to 1 bar.
I believe your control unit has an immobilizer.
In addition, the integrated circuits are soldered in place, which wasn't the case with the older version.
'Without a soldering iron, you won't be able to test them like this.'
If you have the necessary resources, I might be able to provide you with the files for your car (programming of microchips).

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

'cu Thomas' translates to 'see you, Thomas' or 'goodbye, Thomas'. It is a casual way of saying goodbye in German.
