I bought my Bora a year ago, and at the time, I was...
surprised and also somewhat suspicious that a 3-year-old...
The car still smells exactly like a new car.
(I compared it to a new Golf parked next to it, and I couldn't detect any difference.)

I've taken good care of it since then and often vacuumed it, but the...
The scent was something I really liked, because it was light and not overpowering, unlike the smell of a Christmas tree.
It eventually faded away after about half a year.

That confirms my suspicion that dealers might...
They have special cleaning products or detergents. (Don't laugh - I just thought it was good.)

Now, my actual question is:
'Does anyone know how used car dealers verschandeln used cars?'
Vacuuming, upholstery cleaning, applying some kind of product to plastic?

Are there any cleaning agents or polishes available (e.g., ...)? Foam cleaner with a 'new car' scent?
and if: What is it called, where can I get it, and is it harmful to the material?

Of course, I understand that it ranges from the Vanilla Wonder Tree to Polar Fresh.
where you can buy the most wonderful scents.
I still remember some attempts I made to verschandeln the upholstery in my previous car, which I stopped doing because...
I would have regretted the bad perfume in the cleaning product even longer.

Best regards.

Well, our Passat, even though it's four years old, still smells like new. Our old Passat, which was about 7-8 years old, also smelled like new if you sniffed it closely after vacuuming. Oh yes, when I vacuum and clean, it takes a good afternoon to get the interior done.

Otherwise, I can only say that when we received our Passat (the new one), it was only vacuumed and washed in a car wash. Nothing else was done to it, even though the salesperson at the time said it would still be going through a refurbishment process. I'm actually glad he didn't end up going there, after hearing about the aggressive chemicals they use to make the paint shine and the interior look good again.

Best regards, WarLord.

One trick that car dealerships sometimes use is to leave an open can of paint sealant in the car overnight. Then the car will smell like new for a while, but not for very long, but it's enough to make it presentable for sale.

In the retail sector, there are some products designed to mimic the 'new car smell.' These are available as sprays and also as air fresheners (made by a different company). Some gas stations or car washes also offer something similar. You insert a device into your car, and for a euro, a specific chemical is sprayed into the vehicle (under the seats). However, since not every brand smells (or stinks) the same, it's likely that only a few people will be satisfied with the results. But if you like it...

The Christmas tree air freshener doesn't smell like a new car. We had one of those in our car too, and I'm glad the smell was gone after a week.

Order Alfa Romeo part number 0046733568. These are two pads that can be placed inside the car. They are supposedly quite effective. I haven't tried it myself yet.

Approximately 3€, and it's supposed to be really good. icon_wink.gif
