Expert Opinion: Funnel in the Intake Path

Hello everyone.

I've noticed that many vehicles (usually naturally aspirated engines) have a throttle restrictor (a bottleneck in the intake tract).

My question is: does removing the restrictor or replacing it with a pipe that is adapted to the rest of the intake tract have any (positive) effect?
