Hello.
Is it possible to replace the 102 hp 2.5L diesel engine in a T4 with a 150 hp 2.5L engine?
Do you want to exchange?
What kind of modifications are necessary? Transmission, suspension...?
What is the actual difference between the two engines? Are there any reinforced parts?

When the TDI engine was finally offered in the T4, the Audi 100 had a 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine with 115 and 140 horsepower. Even then, I wondered what the point of the power restriction to 102 horsepower was. In this case, I actually think chip tuning is a good idea, even though I generally don't favor it.

@ gregg
To the best of my knowledge, all engines in the T4 model are detuned.
1.9 TD, 68 horsepower instead of 75.
2.5 TDI, 102 hp instead of 115/140 hp.
VR6 140 instead of 174.
Was there a 2.0 gasoline engine option in the T4?
eccentrics
2.5 TDI without glow plugs, 88 horsepower.
2.4 SaugD 78
Most likely, the motors in the cabinet are designed for long-lasting torque rather than peak power.

Hm, do you know what the reserve power is of the 102 hp injectors, without causing a complete loss of power or the pistons to melt due to excessively long injection times?
-> I would definitely use the 150-size nozzles if the goal is to achieve that level of performance. Gruß Ulf

By "reserves," I meant that every engine still has some untapped potential that it doesn't normally utilize.
That's exactly what tuners are using (hopefully, at least in part).
I just wanted to say that I wouldn't completely rebuild the entire engine "just for more horsepower" when there's a much simpler way to do it.

Well, regarding the "only partially" statement, I would be particularly cautious about the chargers in situations involving pressure increases...
That's also why I recommend larger nozzles: based on my experience, the onlyachieved increase in power (i.e., without increasing boost pressure) does not cause any soot problems.
Only with larger nozzles (and electronic modifications) does the door to the world of Nm and horsepower truly open - as long as the hardware can keep up. Gruß Ulf

VR6 140 instead of 174.
The VR6 engine has more torque, and it achieves this torque at a lower RPM, which is why it has slightly fewer horsepower.
Best regards, WarLord.

Hello Ulf,
Okay, I have a question about your explanation regarding fuel injectors.
Does a T4 with 102 hp and ESP actually work with 150 hp injectors?
I also had problems with the injectors during my engine conversion from AJT to ACV.
The car simply wouldn't start.
But that was probably because the nozzle with the needle lift actuator was installed on different cylinders.
Okay, here's the translation:
"Could you please explain to me, as a TDI technology beginner, what can happen if the injectors don't supply enough fuel, or if the light goes out?"
What about the fuel consumption with 150hp injectors (without chip tuning) under the same driving conditions?
Thank you, Klaus[/quote].

Hi,
Roughly speaking, here are some differences between the 74kW and 110kW T4 engines:
- Injector nozzles
- Intake manifold / Exhaust manifold
- Turbocharger
- Piston bowl / Combustion chamber geometry.
- Charge air path (both intake and pressure sides)
- Intercooler
- Catalyst
- Transmission
- Motor-to-transmission connection.
...
Best regards, Rudi.
@ Klaus
The injectors fit, and the engine is running.

Hello Rudi,
Thank you, thank you.
I know the differences between 75 kW and 111 kW.
I have a 75, but I'm not in the mood for a conversion right now.
Since I only recently converted the ACV.
I just wanted to know, from a purely technical perspective, "what happens when the lights go out," and why the pistons burn out.
Does the car with the 111 kW engine consume more diesel?
Ohne sonstiges Tuning bringen die Düsen ja nichts. Or?
Regards,
Klaus.

Hi,
The differences mainly related to the beginning of the thread, where a question was asked.
was done.
With the same driving style, you won't consume more fuel with the .216 nozzles than with the...
Serial nozzles... you can only drive differently with them .
If one does this, the consumption also increases.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about the nozzle diameter of the ACV nozzles, but I believe...
that these are smaller than those of the AFN (please add/correct if anyone knows) .
With a jump of 1Z level, I wouldn't implement this without making changes to the control system.
I wouldn't do it anyway .
Piston melting occurs when the injection duration is too long and the fuel jet...
touches the edge of the piston bowl. This can occur, for example, with power boxes that are set too aggressively.
(they always crack so nicely... ) open.
Best regards, Rudi.

Hello,
When upgrading from 102 horsepower to 150 horsepower, there are two more things to keep in mind!
The right-side motor mount has a different design in terms of its geometry! The same goes for the locking plate!
Currently building a US T4 VR6 and converting it to a TDI with 111 kW.
best regards, renke
