Hello fellow enthusiasts!
When it comes to increasing performance, you eventually reach the point where you have to ask yourself whether it wouldn't be more sensible, cost-effective, and better for the engine to install a completely different engine?
I quite like the characteristics of the 130 HP engine from an A3.
"Has anyone had experience with converting one of these [vehicles]? Or is it one of those situations where it's better to just buy a completely different vehicle?"
Engine swap, and that's it? What about the auxiliary components? The software and transmission need to be adjusted to match the new engine's performance, of course!
But what about the motor mounting points?
I would be grateful for any tips and information! Audi S2 QP

Hello kixx_ass,
The engine and transmission mounts are the same for the A3 and Golf VI, provided they are from the same year.
That's why the conversion is plug and play.
But consider the effort involved!
You need the motor, control unit, and engine wiring harness.
Best 6-speed gearbox, ERF model, drive shafts.
Do you have everything you need? Will you be finished by the weekend?
Regards,
Golfchriss

Hi.
Do PDs not still have a pre-feed pump on or in the tank?
Personally, I would rather try to coax more power out of the ALH engine (there was a long ALH tuning thread about that recently) or buy a complete car that already has an ASZ engine installed.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Completely overhaul the fuel system, install a fuel cooler, modify the cooling system, change the exhaust system, and then there's the engine and electrical system, brakes (front/rear), and the TÜV inspection...

Hello Julian,
Thank you for your negative feedback on my comment.
'Plug and play' refers to the actual feasibility of the project, meaning that custom-made components, such as transmission or motor mounts, may be required.
Because even your additional payment is incomplete.
Such a project is only truly promising if you can find a suitable donor vehicle with a rear-end total loss, from which you can remove all the components that are different. Otherwise, it will become extremely expensive.
And I know what I'm talking about!
Regards,
Golfchriss.
P.S.: It's a shame you're not open to reviews. It would be interesting to see how you professionals perform. Especially you!

Well, the motor mounts are the least of the problems. But everything else needs to be a) acquired and b) the entire conversion vehicle needs to be disassembled.
The effort involved is not insignificant, and who can afford a donor vehicle through normal channels? That's what I meant when I said it's NOT plug-and-play. Plug-and-play implies minimal effort, which I don't see here. For example, replacing the injectors would be plug-and-play for me...
I never claimed anything else.

Look here!

You have almost everything you need (but not quite).
You can sell the rest, such as the interior, air conditioning, headlights, taillights, front axle, and ABS, to E***, and you'll likely get a better price than trying to sell it as a whole. This way, you'll end up paying less overall than if you were to buy the engine, transmission, and other necessary parts individually.

Are you sure that the engine control unit (ECU) of the new engine also needs to be adapted or reprogrammed to ensure compatibility, so that, for example, the immobilizer or something else doesn't malfunction? Do you know anyone who can do that?
I made a different modification, as you can see in the post "a car is flying," but it would never have been possible without a true professional who could a) disable the immobilizer and b) adjust the software and data set. And I know what a friend experienced when he tried to revive a BMW coupe (gasoline engine) that had been flooded by using a different (non-flooded) engine control unit.

Yes, you're right. However, the entire engine control unit (ECU) should be transferred completely from one car to the other. Therefore, the Vehicle Status Information (VSI) should also remain. You would need to re-register the instrument cluster and key. This can usually be done by any competent Audi/VW workshop.
The rear-end damage to the linked A3 is quite severe; how does one manage to do something like that?

Thank you for your tips and suggestions!
The braking system doesn't necessarily have to be changed, as it's approved for engines up to 134 hp with the ALH engine. However, it would certainly be a worthwhile investment from a personal perspective.
@ dieselmartin : I hadn't thought about the pre-injection pump, thanks! Could you send me a link to the ALH tuning information? I haven't been here for a while. The search function is now returning a lot of results.
in diesem sinne ! THX to everyone.
