hello,
'The transmission in my Passat is making a roaring noise, regardless of the gear. It's simply roaring when accelerating, and it's getting worse. I'm sure the bearings are defective and will soon fail completely. I want to replace it with a different one.'
My question: Besides the original one, what other types of transmissions can I install there?
I might consider installing a low-pressure fuel pump (LLK) and other fuel injectors into the fuel injection pump at a later time.
I read that you can get 10-20 horsepower more.
Which gearboxes would be advisable to consider if you might want to do a conversion later?

the vehicle:
Passat Variant, first registration 1993, engine code AAZ, transmission code CHA.

Thank you very much.

There's a list in the technical articles that should specify which engine was paired with which transmission in which car.

If you find several suitable transmissions, you could check if any of them were also used in the 1Z engine. Those would likely be more robust and better suited for your tuning modifications.

You should be able to find it under "Technical Articles" -> "Technical Data" -> "Classification: GKB, MKB, Vehicle Type," or something similar. Just browse around a bit, and you should find it. If not, ask again.

Regards,
Sure, here's the translation:

"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used to describe a sudden burst of something, such as laughter or anger.

I had a G3 AAZ engine with an oil cooler, intercooler, pump adjustment (also known as LDA), and a turbocharger boost increase. That resulted in over 20 horsepower more.
My transmission lasted for about 90,000 km, and then it just failed. There were no signs of any problems, and I often drove it at full throttle.
Here's what you need to pay attention to: Cable-operated or rod-operated shifting? Hydraulic or cable-operated clutch actuation? Most likely, you have rod-operated shifting and a cable-operated clutch.
Is it possible to remodel it?
I'm not sure which transmission would be suitable, but I've also never heard of any problems with AAZ transmissions.
