Hello,
The mass airflow sensor (MAF sensor) is defective in my Audi A4 with a 110 hp engine and an AFN engine code.
A 028 906 461 is installed.
As I have researched (through various forums, eBay, etc.), the first three digits (e.g., 028) are supposed to specify the shape of the plastic tube where the actual mass airflow sensor is installed. The last six digits probably refer to the characteristic curve (?), i.e., gasoline or diesel engine, horsepower, etc.
Since the only defective part is actually the inserted sensor, it should be enough if I get a cheap new (any brand) MAF sensor that has the designation '906 461' on the back.
I would then install it. I don't need the casing, because it's either too short/too long or, in any case, the holes probably won't line up.
Does anyone have any further information, or is my reasoning correct?
LMMs (likely referring to Mass Air Flow sensors) are installed in all vehicles manufactured by the Volkswagen Group (VAG), as well as in other brands such as Audi, VW, Seat, Skoda, Opel, and Volvo.
Best regards,
Oliver.
