Hello.
"For the past 3 months, I've been experiencing intermittent power loss, starting at speeds of 180 km/h."
That means that above 180 km/h, I can accelerate as much as I want.
The speed drops down to 100 km/h.
must stop, engine off, engine on.
That's it.
"I'm going to shift through each gear and bring the RPMs up to the redline to test it and see if everything is okay."
After 2 weeks, it will happen again. Let's try 2 times 4 weeks instead.
"Fault memory has no request."
Passat 3B TDI PD, 115 hp, chip tuning to 155 hp, 150,000 km.
new LMM.
The consumption is normal at 6.5 liters.
load pressure regulation? Then there must be an error in the memory.
best regards
chris

Sounds like an emergency shutdown triggered by a chip.
I had that too!
I removed the chip again.

I thought so too.
I just noticed that the oil lubrication line to the turbocharger was surprisingly loose, and there's oil leaking from the back of the engine.
Since then, I haven't experienced that phenomenon again.
The idle speed is 100 RPM higher when the vehicle is in motion compared to when it's stationary.
Best regards.

? Explain the meaning of engine speed "beyond" the redline to me... how can I visualize it?

I'd say it's probably close to the red area.

Simply turn the screw on the wastegate a half turn or a full turn further in, and it will be gone.

Hello?

TDI PD with wastegate, please don't post any irrelevant information. If you're referring to the VTG linkage, that might be okay, but please don't just mention it without any explanation.

Oh, I didn't see the PDF.

I only buy VP (Variable Pump) cars because I had a 130hp PD (Pump Duese) engine fail after 30,000 kilometers --> never again! (By 80,000 kilometers, all four PD injectors are likely to fail, and that's a very unpleasant experience).

and simply didn't think enough about it...

Okay, let's be honest, your sources of information aren't exactly reliable. Even if you somehow missed it, please tell me the engine code that was used in a Passat 3B with a wastegate turbocharger. And just between us, I only know of one engine code used in a TDI with a wastegate turbocharger...
VP is not an abbreviation for Wastegate!

@ Matthias

The AHU (90 hp VP wastegate) turbocharger was originally installed in the 3B engine, but it was later replaced by the AHH (90 hp VP VTG) turbocharger.

But I can also take a look at that icon_wink.gif.

I can only say that you never stop learning. From the statement I read, it seemed like all VPs were using wastegates, which isn't true. I'm actually quite surprised that wastegates were still present in the 3B engine; I thought they had been discontinued in the previous generation.

Okay,

I have it on good authority that the AHU engine was available in the Passat (and therefore in the 3B model) until August 2000.

The 1.4 TDI also has a wastegate turbocharger - unfortunately. (and it seems to be the only PD engine with a wastegate turbo).

Because what it delivers to the reader is quite enjoyable – but only from 2200 RPM onwards.

Okay, I've actually done some research on this now, and you're right. Darn it, that old 1.4-liter engine is messing up my calculations; it actually does come with a wastegate.
However, I'm only familiar with our A2 model equipped with a VTG turbocharger on the 1.4-liter engine with 90 horsepower, so I wouldn't have thought about that. The 75 horsepower version actually has a wastegate, which I wouldn't have expected, especially since I recently encountered a VTG turbocharger in a 3-liter Lupo, which is the 1.2 TDI.
Okay, now it's clear that there are indeed turbochargers with wastegates, and that there are also wastegates in the 3B engine.

However, and at least this is 100% certain: the AJM engine doesn't have a wastegate, which means something is wrong.
I also noticed that it was mentioned that when helping here, you shouldn't just throw in a couple of sentences that don't actually contribute to solving the problem. That was the point. I also realized that I myself was not very well informed. Well.

Regarding the problem itself, all I can say is:

log, log, log

Then post it here, and we can take a look at it together.

Unfortunately, there's no other way with our GameBoy cars - there's so much electronics inside that the thing has a life of its own - and "logging" simply means asking the "engine computer" icon_smile.gif.

dieselmartin schrieb, dass es den AHU im Passat 3b bis 08/00 gab, dann wurde es durch den AHH abgelöst. Gab es den AHU später noch in anderen VAG-Autos, dann u. Uwith VTG?
A few months ago, I got an AT-AHU engine from a (younger?) Audi. Is it possible that the AHU engine in that Audi was running with a different turbocharger? Unfortunately, I couldn't use the auxiliary components from the AT engine (so I kept my 'old' turbocharger, among other things).
Could the reason my 3B engine is going into limp mode above 3000 rpm be due to excessive boost pressure (target: 1900 mbar, actual: 2225 mbar)? The boost control valve is new, and the old one was incorrectly connected (although it's now connected correctly).

Regards,
André.

Hi,

Check the duty cycle of the solenoid valve for the turbocharger boost pressure control.
