Hello everyone!
What is the difference between the pressure sensors (for turbocharger control) that were installed in older (1H0 906 627 A) and newer (1J0 906 627 A) VP-TDIs with variable geometry turbochargers?
The function, external appearance, and connection interface are, in my opinion, absolutely identical. What is the difference?
I assume that the parts can be interchanged. Who knows for sure?
Has the electrical plug connection possibly been changed?
Regards,
Alex.

Wow.
At 110 EUR (Golf3) compared to 33 EUR (Golf4), this question is already allowed .
m;
P.S. Unfortunately, I only have an ASV (Abbruchsicherungssystem) and a 1Z (presumably a model number) to refer to.
And the ASV probably has the same 1J0 engine as your ALH.
I can, however, take a picture of the 1H0 906 627 part (for the AGR valve).
Perhaps this will already help to solidify the "electricity" theory .

Hmm,
Okay, so the first part was also installed in models up to 2001 (AHF, ALH, ASV).
The second part involves the exact same engines, within the same timeframe.
//edit: The first part covers registration numbers up to 1J-X-999000, and the second part covers registration numbers starting from 1J-Y-000001.

Hi,
If I'm not mistaken, in model year 2002, the 1H part was still installed at the Ibi plant of ASV.
Best regards,
Jan.

Thank you for your answers!
Certainly, the AKTE (presumably a database or record) allows you to easily check the period during which a specific part was installed in which engine with VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry).
My thesis is, however:
It doesn't matter whether you install the cheaper or the more expensive part; the boost pressure regulation works equally well in both cases.
If the connector is the same and the valve resistance is also the same, then there's nothing to suggest that I should use the part that's three times more expensive.
What do you think about that?
Regards,
Alex.

We've discussed this topic before - but please don't ask me what you need to search for.
Unfortunately, I also have the gold-plated part with the code 1H0 in my ALH engine. It would be possible to spend a lot of time with AKTE (presumably a database or documentation) to check which other parts were installed differently based on the vehicle identification number (VIN). It could also be a different software version in the engine control unit (ECU).
You can also see the differences when looking at Pierburg (the manufacturer), as they also use different part numbers.
But the differences probably aren't that significant. What's surprising is the large price difference. This difference remains even when you buy directly from Pierburg.

Hello,
Normally, the parts should be identical.
Typically, the first three digits of the part number indicate the vehicle type in which the part is used. The next three digits specify the type of part (e.g., body control module for the door = 959), and the last four digits provide a precise description of the control module, including the variant/index.

Hello everyone!
Would anyone have the opportunity to compare both parts directly with each other?
Besides the plug compatibility, the internal resistance should also be approximately the same. If that were the case, I would have no problem conducting a comparison (by swapping them between corresponding vehicles).
It would be critical if the pressure transducer's characteristic curve deviated, meaning that the relationship between pressure and duty cycle were different. Who is qualified to perform this experiment?
Regards,
Alex.

@ Thomas K.
Unfortunately, this theory doesn't help us here.
There are always parts that survive the car's lifespan.
The ball in the Golf 2 shift linkage (and even in some Golf 3 models) has a Golf 1 part number.
The valve described here (for the 1H0 model, which is the Golf 3) was definitely also used in the Golf 4, as already clarified.
Also stimmt die Zuordnung Auto<->Teilenummer nicht immer, und daher sind auch alle Schlussfolgerungen daraus nichtssagend. Unfortunately.

Hi,
Have you already checked the electrical connections?
A pressure sensor for a Passat 3B5 TDI 110 hp costs approximately 90€.
A pressure sensor for a Passat 3B6 TDI 130 hp costs approximately 35€.
The only difference between the pressure transducers lies in the...
electrical connections. From a mechanical perspective, they are...
both parts are identical.

The result is essentially a Polo 6N with many parts from the Golf 3 and the drivetrain technology of the Golf 4.

@Hame22:
It would probably be more cost-effective to solder or crimp on a different connector than to buy the completely overpriced "older" component.
Is there a VAG part number for this connector? Or are there any other sources where I can purchase this connector?
Can someone provide images of the different types of plugs or connectors?

Alex.

Hello everyone!
Here's a picture update from my page. I hope you can clearly see both the "old" pressure sensor (part number 1H0 906 627 A) and the connector.
It would be interesting to see the same images of the "newer" part with the number 1J0 906 627 A.
@ Jan6K :
Is the newer pressure sensor already installed in your ASV? Could you please create some similar images for comparison?
Regards,
Alex.

Jan, you can stay inside.
The ASV in the GP01 should still have the 1H0 converter.
"At least, that's what my 'reliable source' says about the MJ 00 and MJ 01."
So, I can't help either, because I would only be able to offer an ASV for an Ibiza GP01 .
