Larger Turbo for 1Z Engine: Which Fits?

Since my turbocharger might need to be replaced eventually, I was considering installing a slightly larger one to gain some more power (when combined with other modifications like injectors and a tuning chip).
Could someone perhaps tell me what might be suitable here, and more importantly, what would be a sensible option?

I actually didn't want to make any major modifications like those used on AFN components...

The answer is simple:

NOTHING.

The catalytic converter and exhaust pipe indicate that only the turbocharger from the 1Z engine is compatible.

If you want to change anything else, you'll have to replace at least these parts. However, it's questionable whether it makes sense to install a different type of wastegate turbocharger.

Just chip away at it and you'll get there.

What do you mean by "fit"?

With the right amount of effort, you can theoretically get any charger to work.

But when it comes to something relatively easy to install for a TDI wastegate, there's nothing better.

Quite the opposite is true for the VTG vehicles – there's a whole menagerie of different chargers available for them.
