Hello.
As is commonly known, the rear axle alignment on front-wheel-drive Passats cannot be adjusted.
Last week, I went to a tire dealer, and he claimed there's a shim that tapers from right to left in thickness, and that it can be installed between the wheel hub and the axle.

'Does anyone know how it works exactly?'
Are the lenses available in different thicknesses, or are multiple correction lenses stacked on top of each other to achieve the required correction?
Where can I buy something like that?

Best regards,

Hardy.

I think I saw something like that in Stahlgruber's catalog once, but that was a long time ago!

Ich weiß von meinem letzten Mal Spur einstellen, daß es diese Scheiben für alle Golf Modelle bis einschließlich Golf III geben soll, beim Golf 4 nicht mehr (wg. Bre(e.g., saddle shape)

Therefore, I think it should be available for the Passat as well. If it is, it should be obtainable from a Volkswagen dealership. Well-stocked automotive parts retailers like Stahlgruber or Matthies should also have it.

Hello!
Regarding the 2WD Passat 3B/3BG, it is indeed possible to slightly rotate or adjust the entire rear axle assembly! This is because the bearing supports have longitudinal holes.

Best regards,

Yes, that was exactly the reason why my Passat pulled to the right for over 5 years, and the dealer said the customer was crazy.

As soon as you go to a different workshop, they can adjust the rear axle, and the car drives straight.

Hello.
Thank you all for your answers. I will check with Stahlgruber. The tip about using elongated holes is also valuable. If you're interested, I have described my actual problem here.

Hello.
Thank you all very much. The tip about Stahlgruber was helpful. Through the Stahlgruber website, I found the Tip Top website. You can download the catalog there, and you can find the correction discs on page 191.
There, I learned that those things are called 'EZ shims.' Using a search engine online, I found some pictures of them.

Below are some websites you can visit:

The correction lenses are universal, and you have to cut out the holes for the bolts yourself. Please don't ask me what the TÜV (German technical inspection authority) thinks about them, I don't know. On the manufacturer's website, I read that there are also pre-made correction lenses specifically designed for certain vehicles. However, I haven't found any that are specifically made for the Passat 3B (although there are some for the New Beetle).
