Hello everyone!
The rubber-to-metal bearings in the rear axle of my Golf 3 TDI are defective.
Can someone describe the installation and removal process to me?
Why don't you buy a repair manual for your Golf? It probably contains all the information you need!
And you're going to need it more often than you think!
I have the repair manual you mentioned, but it doesn't contain any useful information about replacing the rubber-to-metal bushings.
Now I had the rear axle bearings replaced at a small workshop. It cost 80 euros, which is a fair price. Because it's a very difficult job. The brake lines had to be opened, and since the bearings were extremely tight after 190,000 km, they had to be pressed out using a suitable press.
