'For some time now, I've been experiencing a slight vibration in the steering wheel when accelerating (specifically during acceleration in 5th/6th gear at speeds of 120-150 km/h). It's also noticeable in other gears.'
I already took it to the workshop, and they said the wheels need to be rebalanced.

They just did that, and they changed the tires from front to back.

The stuttering is still there!

I think there might be an imbalance in the drive shaft or perhaps a bearing issue.

What do you think?

I've been experiencing this jerking for quite some time, but I thought it might be due to the high torque and power output becoming noticeable.

I'm looking forward to reading your contributions!

Sebastiaan.

'The same problem as with the brakes: the wheel hub, wheel bearing, or driveshaft stub is bent. Did you perhaps slide into something on the edge during the winter?'

I'm having a problem too. I think it's called 'flat spots' (that's what I believe the term is). The car has been sitting for 4 months and I haven't moved it.
This can also happen during hard braking (without ABS) if the wheels lock up and you just slide, which is then known as brake locking or skidding.
It could also be a wheel bearing, but if that were the case, you would likely hear a loud noise coming from the front.

Regards,
Schnupfi.

The rims might have a runout, which can lead to extreme vibrations.
Even the tires can, if they are of poor quality (like the factory-installed tires from VW, for example icon_biggrin.gif, I've experienced this myself), develop a radial runout relatively quickly.

With relatively consistent vibrations that change or intensify depending on the speed, I would initially suspect the wheels.

Vielen dank für eure Beiträge bist jetzt ! icon_biggrin.gif

MellTom: No, I haven't had any 'accidents' in the winter (or summer), it can't be that.

Schnupfi: My car is never (almost never) out of commission for more than 1 day; I drive 60,000 kilometers a year. It wasn't a full stop; I didn't do that, and I have ABS.

Tito: The rims have no runout; you only feel vibrations when accelerating (during acceleration). The tires are good, they're Continental Sport Contact 2s. The wheels have been rebalanced and swapped from front to back. None of that helped.

I know it's not easy, but I suspect it might be the wheel bearing or possibly the driveshaft.

Sincerely,

Sebastiaan.
