Hello,
In the discussions here, you occasionally read that the regeneration phase in the DPF is initiated after a certain number of kilometers.
Now the question:
How can I tell if my DPF is currently undergoing regeneration or not icon_question.gif?

Best regards,

I would say the current power consumption (MFA) is increased, and possibly you have more power output because more fuel is being injected?

Hi...

You don't get more power from it; the EDC system adjusts the main injection amount to compensate for the post-injection.
"Currently, the difference in fuel consumption is noticeable, especially when comparing systems without additives to those with additives. The systems with additives experience a regeneration phase that lasts about 10-20 km, resulting in approximately 10% higher fuel consumption during that period. However, this is only reflected in the average fuel consumption; the displayed instantaneous fuel consumption value remains normal, so the driver doesn't notice it."

"I notice this in my old Van Can Vehicle, where the rear window defroster is constantly activated depending on the engine load, without any clicking sound when I manually press the button. During regeneration, additional consumers are activated, and even the engine fan runs at full speed... To what extent is this related to the switched consumers of the interior control unit? icon_question.gif"

Here's a really interesting article, but I'm not sure how well-researched it is.

Quite a good article that captures the current issue.

Back to the topic of identifying the regeneration phase:
- Different sound characteristics (makes more of a humming noise).
- Possibly increased LL speed.
-Modified driving characteristics (less responsive in the low-end, potentially more 'pull' in the mid-range, within the typically smoke-limited range, i.e., up to approximately 2000 rpm, due to the higher exhaust temperature).
