Hello,
I have a Passat 35i, manufactured in 1994.
"I've been having problems with my central heating system for a while now." When you close and lock the driver's door, all the doors should lock, but the indicator light that shows the alarm system (DWA) is active does not blink. (However, the alarm system is active; I have tested it.)
If you try to unlock the door, only the driver's door will open; all other doors will remain locked, and the immobilizer (DWA) will not be deactivated. If you try to start the engine, the immobilizer will activate.
I have already removed the door handle assembly and the lock cylinder and inspected them for faults (I suspect the microswitch).
The strange thing is that the error doesn't always occur, but only sporadically, and only on the driver's side door; everything works perfectly fine from the passenger's side door.
Has anyone had similar experiences or have any advice?
Regards,
*Mario* |

Hello boss!
You're not entirely wrong to suspect microswitches. However, it's usually not the switches themselves that are the problem, but rather the mechanism within the lock that actuates the central locking switches, which wears down over time. So, if you turn the key in the lock a little too far upwards, it should work.
'I occasionally experience the same problem with my 35i, but a new lock is simply too expensive for me.'
Regards,
Dominique. |
