Longlife with 96kW TDI and oil level sensor

Hello.
Folgende kurze Vorgeschichte. Beim Tanken versehentlich Tageskilometer gedrückt gehalten und Zündung ein geschaltet. Anzeige in der MFA war 'SERVICE JETZT'. Ab zum Freundlichen, da ich Bedenken hatte daß Longlife deaktiviert wurde. Dort wurde ausgelesen und man sah daß die Ölqualität noch immer auf 4 gesetzt war und die Tage haben auch gestimmt. Also kein Anzeichen auf eine Intervallrücksetzung oder Rücksetztung auf Fix-Intervall. Jetzt habe ich aber trotzdem meine Bedenken, da der Ölpegel laut Meßstab wieder an der unteren Kante des geriffelten Feldes steht. Als beim ertsten mal der Ölpegel exakt da unten war hat mich die MFA freundlich aufgefordert nach dem Öl zu schauen. SprA gong is sounding, the yellow oil can is lit up, and in the text field, there is...and 'ÖLSTAND PRÜFEN'. Mittlerweile steht der Ölstand wieder da unten, aber die MFA hat sich bis dato nicht gemeldet. Ich habe gehört daß wenn Longlife deaktiviert wird auch der Ölstandsensor sich deaktiviert. Jetzt my question:
Can the oil level sensor be checked or verified to be active? I'm just not sure about this anymore. How can I systematically check if the longlife system is active, and especially if the oil sensor is working? Do I need to 'activate' it specifically using diagnostics, or how can I check this? I want to be 100% sure!

habe den selben Motor in meinem Golf ( ASZ ). Also für mich ist eines deine Probleme nicht zu verstehen: Wartest du immer bis der Gong ertönt und die Ölkanne erscheint? Ich würde da schnell mal was nachfüllen und das auch ab und an kontrollieren. Meiner hat so bis 15000km Öl verbraucht. Habe zwar Longlife, hab der Sache aber nicht so ganz getraut und mal schnell einen Öl / Filterwechsel selber gemacht. SeiSince then, I haven't added a single drop more (approximately 22,000 km).
While I also have multi-factor authentication set up, I hope I don't have to hear this friendly warning from the car.
I just quickly glanced at the instruction manual, and if you have a severely low oil level, the indicator light turns red, and you get an even more alarming message! This happens when the oil pressure drops too much (among other reasons, due to a low oil level).
Unfortunately, I can't say anything about the oil level indicator, sorry!

Wenn sie funktioniert und aktiv ist kann man sich super drauf verlassen. Es gongte EXAKT dann wenn das Öl am Anfang des geriffelten Feldes steht. Und bis Max. passen beim Passat sowieso nur 0,5 L rein. Ich kontrolliere eh selbst auch, aber ich will ja nur wissen ob noch alles paßt und Longlife samt Ölstandsensor aktiv ist. Wenn es jetzt mal einen Gong geben würde wäre ich schon beruhigt. Meiner hat bei 7200km zum ersten mal gegongt, dann 0,5L nach gekippt. Bei 15tkm habe ich OHNE Gong wieder 0,5L reingekippt. Also 1L auf 15tkm. Das ist eigentlich recht normal sag ich mal so. Jetzt habe ich knapp über 20tkm und es hat noch nicht gegongt und der Ölpegel ist exakt am unteren geriffelten Feld. Was würdet ihr machen. NoLet's wait a bit or maybe try tilting it and see if that helps.Have the workshop check it, if it's even possible to have it checked. That's the question.

You can only disable the service interval reminder (like 'Longlife') using the VAS 5052 tool. It's possible you've reset the instrument cluster to indicate that an oil change has been performed. The operating manual explains how to do this.
If the number of days and kilometers until the next interval remains the same, then you haven't actually changed anything.

Tip: Always keep the oil level at the maximum mark. This helps lower oil temperatures and extends the oil change interval.

If you only press the ignition button without turning it, nothing will happen. Then you will always see the "Service now" message, but that doesn't mean anything specific for the LL (likely referring to a specific car model or system).

Therefore, the workshop also read out the correct settings for "Longlife" (LL). This way, it is actually possible to activate the 15,000-mile service intervals (see also the instructions). However, switching back to "Longlife" can only be done with a diagnostic tool. In any case, the previous "history" of your oil fill will be lost, meaning it is not possible to restore the state before the reset.
Therefore, there's nothing to check on your side at the moment. You can adjust the level, but be careful not to exceed the ribbed area.


Regarding resetting the service interval display and switching to fixed intervals, I also recommend reading "So wirds gemacht" (How it's done) volume 112, page 14. It explicitly states that for LL vehicles, resetting the display using the buttons on the control panel allows you to set the fixed intervals.

"The service interval display is reset by using the adjustment buttons located in the control panel. To maintain the LL (Longlife) interval, the display must be reset using a VW diagnostic tool."

Ich habe meine erste Begegnung mit der gelben Ölkanne bei ca.20000km gemacht.
I immediately pulled off the highway and checked the oil.
War bei der min. Brand .
Then I thought for a moment and checked the owner's manual. It said: 'CHECK OIL LEVEL.'
sinngemäs.and not STOP MOTOR OFF. Lucky you.
I now always keep 1 liter of 0W30 oil in the trunk.
