Hi there,
Based on the appearance of the wave, it won't produce proper chips, but rather finer shavings or debris.
It's a disgrace that the engineers aren't able to get their ideas implemented, but rather it's the cost-cutters who are calling the shots.
I worked in research and development in the automotive industry for a few years, and it was shocking how meaningful solutions were rejected, and instead, only cost considerations were prioritized.
An oil pump is ultimately not a new technological development that has just been invented. It should be possible to build something like that that is durable .

"So, I reassembled the car yesterday, and all that's left now is the oil... (it will arrive on Monday)."
Now, the only question I have is how to remove the wave if there's another failure. The old one had a thread (you inserted a small screw and pulled on it).
Since the pump is attached to the retaining sleeve, it cannot be pulled off the shaft. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Unfortunately, the oil didn't arrive until yesterday. I then assembled everything, and the car is currently running as it should again.
When the engine was cold, it had a pressure of 4 bar. (What are the normal values in this case?)
Thank you very much for all the answers so far! I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from them. (Maybe this is a medium-term solution...) Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

If in doubt, at least it's only the oil pump that is broken .
But something else won't work. I also had to use pliers to get the old wave out. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

My condolences!
The Sharan has been running continuously, now with almost 200,000 kilometers on the odometer (so already about 80,000 kilometers with the new six-speed transmission).
It seems to be working. Since the new hexagonal shape was constructed differently (without internal threads), I assume it is harder. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Unfortunately, even the "new" hexagonal bolt doesn't hold! Recommendation: Check it, for example, during a timing belt replacement, before it's too late again! For the sake of completeness, I'm bringing this thread back up because of the following question:
How does the issue of the balancing wave module relate when a 2.0PD engine is installed in a vehicle from a different brand?
It was also available in the Mitsubishi Outlander, the Jeep Patriot, and the Jeep Compass.
In these cases, the question of what components are installed cannot be easily answered simply by looking up the information in the E_T_K_A system or having someone else do it. selber schrauben - statt Werkstattpfusch
