Hello,
Following the E189 recall, version 15.7.4 of the RKS software was identified as obsolete.
(Coincidence?)
I then downloaded the latest version, 16083.
It was recognized as a threat by Norton and deleted.
Is there a way out?
Should we keep the old version?
Okay, here's the translation:
Thank you.

Hi,
A solution would be to remove the Norton malware and switch to Microsoft Security Essentials in the future.
With the current VCDS version 16.8.3.4, I am not aware of any issues with virus scanners.
Check: http://www.virustotal.com
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello everyone!
My Kaspersky (KIS package) has never flagged, modified, or otherwise interfered with or hindered any VCDS installation, including the USB drivers.
Same goes for well-known add-ons from this company, and that's been the case for well over a decade.
I don't want to do any unfair advertising here, but the more free (cheaper) an antivirus scanner is, the higher its qualities in terms of reliability, naturally - that makes perfect sense, right?
...in case the irony is lost: Everyone who pays for something like that must be stupid.
Even about 15 years ago, I had really BAD experiences with Norton, including a huge amount of time wasted on investigating the causes and fixing problems, ... and that was even with the paid version .
Best regards from Munich!

Solution: Avoid using Norton and its derivatives.

Okay, here's the translation:
Thank you.
It already provides a certain level of security.
The version 16.8.4 downloaded from RossTech was not the same.
Deleted by Norton.
Following your encouragement, I was then able to find the courage to take on some responsibility for the version that was still not very widely used.
The vehicle is currently missing a .rod file for the engine.
I believe it has been reported.
Is a different .rod file required after the diesel update?

If the VAG part number of the engine control unit or the corresponding ASAM identifier has changed, of course.
You would probably have had more success with the current German version of VCDS, as many of the models driven here in the USA are not available there.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,
The German VCDS version: RKS 16.8.3.4 recognizes the code.
EV_ECM16TDI02103L997557R
Not with the ending "R", but perhaps with some other endings (-B, -G, -K, etc.).
*******read today********************
Address 01: Engine Control Module (J623-CAYC)
Label file: None
Part number SW: 03L 997 557 R, HW: 03L 906 023 A.
Component: R4 1.6L TDI; Part Number: H23 9982.
Revision: --H23--- Serial Number: 00000000000000
Encoding: 00114036032401080000
Operating number: WSC 01357 011 00200
ASAM Dataset: EV_ECM16TDI02103L997557R 003003
ROD: not applicable.
VCID: 4B92C5AEE2C37D66DB-801E
No ASAM data available: "EV_ECM16TDI02103L997557R" (VW36)
No error codes found.
Readiness: 0 0 0 0 0
***************************
The old EV_ECM16TDI02103L906023HM.rod file exists.
in the old UDS_EV folder, but not in the new one...
Should I wait for an update now, or is there another option available?
Have you ever managed to get a .rod file like that?
Does it ever happen that manufacturers intentionally create such "gaps" or loopholes?
Thank you very much.

Regarding the letters in the VAG part number? Of course, the numbers themselves aren't sequential either.

"By 'gaps,' I meant missing data."
Is it possible to only "forge" the ending of a word?
to even be able to start it?

What do you want to start? Starting VCDS has absolutely nothing to do with the ASAM description.
If your antivirus software repeatedly deletes the vcds.exe file, then disable the relevant directory in the real-time protection settings, or disable the scanner completely, and use the method I recommend.
Just wait until an updated VCDS version is available in the customer account.

Best regards, Rainer.

Due to recurring issues with Norton Antivirus / Websafe, we recommend using an alternative product.
Sure, I will translate the text from German to English, keeping all exactly as they are.
Please provide the text you want me to translate.
In my opinion, Norton itself is a form of malware.

Good day
I purchase an annual license for downloading for both of my computers.
G Data Internet Security
It is always very up-to-date, with virus signatures being updated almost daily.
He reports very meticulously, but he has never had any problems with VCDS.
to other programs.
Kann nichts negatives berichten. Läuft jetzt das 3. Reliable year after year.
