I have a "00302 Relay for solenoid valve (J106)" error code on my Passat 3B 1.9 TDI PD (manufactured in March 2000), and I'm not sure what to do.
Background:
A few weeks ago, I had a problem where the ABS/ESP system was activating unnecessarily when I was lightly braking. I then checked it with VCDS and found the error code "00597 - Wheel speed sensor signal inconsistent, sporadic."
I also noticed that the rear left wheel speed signal was fluctuating slightly.
To quickly get rid of the annoying rattling noise, I removed the fuse for the ABS system, and then the car could be driven normally (of course, with error messages and warnings displayed on the instrument panel).
Okay, so I fixed the sensor yesterday, and the signal is now working correctly, but the error 00302 is still appearing, along with corresponding warning messages in the control unit. (The original error 00597 is gone.)
The relay itself seems to be functioning correctly, and there is voltage present when the ignition is turned on.
I don't know how to proceed from here.
Do you see a connection between the two errors? Was driving without a safety device harmful?
