Hello.
I bought a Caddy 2K two years ago and have been working on it on and off ever since.
Now I was planning to go to the TÜV (German technical inspection), but the brakes on the left rear wheel aren't working at all. The brake caliper moves freely, and the handbrake mechanism is also working.
Fluid is present on all brake calipers except for the rear left one. I then worked my way through all the fittings, all the way to the ABS module, but nothing is leaking there either.
However, if I select the "bleed hydraulic unit" option in the basic settings via VCDS, brake fluid also reaches the rear left brake.
Since I've owned the car, only the right rear saddle has been replaced. Otherwise, no work has been done on the braking system.
It's a 2004 Caddy with the MK70 ABS system.
Do you suspect the problem is more likely related to the control unit or the hydraulic block?
Thank you very much for your ideas.
Sören.

Hi,
How did you attempt to bleed the brakes? Did you apply pressure to the brake fluid reservoir, or did you use the brake pedal? Was the ignition on or off during the process?
It almost looks like the inlet valve for the brake on the rear left side of the ABS module is blocked. However, this should only happen when the system is activated.
Can you individually address the valves in the ABS module during an actuator diagnosis? If so, do they sound the same?
Don't forget to run the Autoscan!

Hello,
Please also check the brake hoses and the connection to the brake caliper for leaks, as brake fluid can leak out and air can get in, not always in both directions at the same time...
Aluminum O-rings, in particular, can sometimes look visually fine, even though they are partially corroded and damaged.
Best regards, Rainer.

The cause of the problem was a defect in the ABS module.
I was unable to get any brake fluid to the cylinder, whether with the ignition on or off. The pedal always felt like the system was free of air and closed.
I also couldn't make any progress with the actuator diagnostics. I couldn't find anything conclusive there.
ABS module replaced and everything is working fine.
Thank you.

Do you happen to know exactly what's defective in the ABS module?
