Extend 5th Gear: How To & Benefits

I would like to ask another question regarding the extension of the 5th gear in a CYP gearbox!

The following part numbers appear in the previous threads:

02A 311 361 AM; 02A 311 158 AF = 28/40 = 0.7

02D 311 361; 02D 311 158 = 32/47 = 0.681

The earlier ones should be the original gears from the ASD transmission, while the later ones are from the T4 Syncro transmission. Now, I specifically want to install the combination from the T4 and I'm wondering if anyone here in the forum has already done this. Do the gears fit properly with the 02A CYP transmission? In other forums, you often read that the needle bearing needs to be replaced.

Why the T4 Syncro?

For Golf 2 and smaller G3 gasoline engines (with the 020 transmission), the clutch disc pressure plate is located on the outside, as the pressure plate sits at the very edge and presses against the clutch via the hollow-bored transmission main shaft.
This shaft-in-tube assembly tends to rattle, especially when you're stopped at a traffic light with the clutch disengaged.

To my knowledge, on the G3 GTI 16V, VR6, and TDI models (with the 02A transmission), it is NOT possible to replace the clutch release bearing from the outside, as the bearing is located INSIDE the transmission bell housing.
