Hello everyone.
I have an Audi A6, 2.5 TDI with 85 kW (AAT engine). I disconnected the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and noticed that the turbocharger boost control valve makes a ticking or clicking sound after the engine is turned off, but only for a short time (about 20 seconds). I plugged the hose to the EGR with a screw. When I remove this screw, you can hear air being sucked in, and the turbocharger boost control valve stops ticking. Is this normal, or could something be damaged? What happens if I don't seal the EGR hose?
Please help, thank you.

I don't know if that's normal. My Audi 100, which also has an AAT, has been making these noises for years. However, I attribute them to the EGR valve because the LDR operates under pressure.

Hi,
My 1Z did the same thing. Replacing the boost pressure control valve fixed the problem.
Whether this is also the case with the AAT is unclear. However, the construction (turbocharger) is the same as that of the 1Z engine. Gruß Bertil

Hi,
Just like Bertil mentioned, it was the same for me (1Z):
Out with the old, in with the new, done and dusted!
This was necessary because the valve at the end was completely defective, and the emergency mode was activated more frequently.
Unfortunately, the ticking started again after 1 year - but without the 'limp home' mode.

Regarding clicker training:
I experienced the same issue with my 1Z. Because my car wasn't running properly, I suspected this valve and replaced it as a precaution, using an original part from VW.
The end of the story: the new one clicks just the same (not even in a different pitch ).

Hey guys, thanks for the posts. So, even if there are new tickers, nothing much can happen to me.
 thanks

I had the same problem. There was a clicking sound after turning it off. I replaced the solenoid valve, and now it's quiet.

Whose 1Z clicked AFTER being turned off?
I can hardly believe it, because after being switched off, the 109 has lost its connection, and the valve no longer receives any power. Therefore, it will be very difficult for it to make any clicking sounds.
Regarding the VTG engines, I can imagine something because the N75 valve is connected to the vacuum reservoir, which can function even without electricity.

Hi Martin,
Mine is an AFN, and it came from the vacuum reservoir. A broken membrane made a sound like a very satisfied kitten, until the vacuum was equalized .

I told you so .
However, with a 1Z engine, there can't be any "back pressure" because as soon as the turbo stops, everything is balanced (no pressure differences and zero current).

hi,
My first post, and already a question...
I'm also having a problem with my LDR valve. As soon as I turn on the ignition, it clicks like crazy (1Z). I'm not sure if it does the same thing when the engine is running.
'Furthermore, my engine is producing a bit more smoke than usual; perhaps this could also be a contributing factor.'
It's possible that the wrong valve was installed, especially since it's relatively new. The part number that was read is: 028 906 283 I.

Hi Micha,
I'm not familiar with an "I" version.
I know and have an "F".
The fact that the device is running even when the engine hasn't been started is due to the engine control unit.
The VW engineers noticed this annoying issue after just 5 years and they changed it in newer engine control units: shaking my head.
If 800 EUR for a new control unit seems too expensive to you , just leave it as it is, that's normal.
I can even hear it through the background noise of the cold TDI engine when it's running!

hi martin,
Thank you for the quick information.
'The engine I bought (a 75hp gasoline engine) also had a new engine control unit (ECU) installed. However, it had a different circuit board, which meant I couldn't use my tuning chips... So, I'm now using an ECU from a Passat. I'm not sure anymore if the clicking sound was related to the other ECU.'
this annoying clicking is so loud and fast, one after another?? I can't imagine that it has to tick so quickly when the ignition is on???? Maybe the wrong part is installed (I)? I could get an original one and see if it's better or different. I'll report back .

The component is clocked by the control unit (specifically, using the ground connection).
The constant positive voltage is supplied by relay 109.
It's making a sound with a frequency of 2-3 Hz - regardless of whether the motor is on or off - and it's only controlling the ratio, which is essentially pulse-width modulation.
I checked the timing with an LED – it blinks nicely!
As I said, I only know the "F"; I don't know what the "I" stands for.

hi,
I just checked quickly:
ignition on, ticking.
engine on: no ticking!!! (I held my hand on it, felt nothing)
Is that really true?

Mine also makes a ticking sound even after the engine has been turned off for a while!
It doesn't bother me at all!
Can someone tell me how much this part costs?
