Today's appointment at the workshop is for a precise diagnosis and to determine the next steps.
Over the weekend, I spent many hours reading about and researching dual-clutch transmission technology.
I also spoke with a transmission repair specialist and discussed the issue with them.
When I dropped off my car this morning, I asked that if they came to the conclusion...
that I need a new transmission, and that I should try the following before replacing it – in my opinion.
Jammed locking pawl (the mechanism) - how to free it:
Disconnect the shift linkage from the transmission and then forcefully move the gear lever all the way back and forth.
To move it forward, loop a rope around the lever from the back (from below) and then towards the front.
"In that way, a man positioned underneath the car can pull the lever backward by pulling on the rope, while the other man..."
to move him from a position above and in front of the car back towards the front.
Also, here's the translation:
"A firm strike with a hardened piece of iron (possibly using a rachet extension) on the transmission housing may also be necessary."
Above, around the area near the gear shift lever, I had suggested a solution if nothing else works.
I have always been and still am convinced that the mechanism with the feathers got stuck above the locking bolt.
Okay, so at noon I was finally able to pick up my car again – the parking lock was working again.
Moving the lever back and forth without the cable attached produced the desired result.
Well, I guess I was lucky – otherwise, the extended warranty would have covered the damage.
I paid the new vehicle tax, but I'm glad I didn't have to subject my car to all those inspections and repairs.
