Hey guys,

Since my first clutch has now failed after 76,000 km, I'm looking for a durable material to use as a standard replacement.
What do you think of the LUK clutch for the ALH engine?
How much Nm (Newton-meters) can the clutch handle?

I've read about the Sachskupplung, but I'm still having a bit of trouble acquiring it.

Hi,

I would recommend a Fichtel & Sachs "Power Clutch." It's a reinforced, stock-type clutch, not a performance clutch. They are available for most common engine types, and an ALH is certainly likely to be included. icon_wink.gif
I don't think it's more expensive than a standard model, but contacting a dealer will certainly give you a more definitive answer.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about LUK products. However, you can order Sachs clutches from almost any retailer, whether online or in a physical store.

But something else. It's certainly not normal for the clutch to be worn out after 76,000 kilometers.
There are three possibilities: either there is an error, the animals are not being kept in appropriate conditions, or there is an attempt to increase productivity.
If there's a defect, such as a leaking seal, then the new clutch won't help much.

Greetings.
Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

First of all, thank you for your detailed explanation.

'artgerechte Haltung' icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif : I probably forgot to lubricate my clutch. icon_cry.gif icon_cry.gif
Unfortunately, VW is not showing much understanding, which is already annoying since my warranty only expired on December 15th. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
Okay, with a leaking seal, VW has a problem, and that shouldn't be mine. icon_wink.gif

The only question now is whether and how I can get VW to install a reinforced Sachs clutch instead of their standard, low-quality one.

Performance enhancements can be completely ruled out.

I need to correct something:
Clutch pressure plate order: 038 141 025 D, Price: 163 Euros.
Clutch disc: ' ' : 038 141 032 D, 186 Euros, all prices excluding VAT.

This should be from Sachs icon_eek.gif according to AKTE ??? And then so weak in the chest icon_sad.gif, and I already have the 230 mm version, not just the 220 mm *hair-raising*.

Hello,

When I talk about species-appropriate keeping, I mean things like starting from a standstill, frequently transporting large loads, and using loops or curves in the enclosure.

As long as the cause hasn't been identified, I wouldn't just replace the part without further investigation.

I can still recommend this Power Clutch, but has anyone else had different experiences?

So far, I've only heard good things.

Greetings.
Thomas.

Hi Thomas,

I had already thought something along those lines. icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Now I hope the mechanic will do the same, as he offered me a certain amount of goodwill.

I'm going to get some quotes next year.

Does ATU actually replace clutches?

Dealing with the leak is tricky because the transmission has to be removed first. If it turns out to be the oil seal, the clutch will also have to be removed, as everything there is likely to be burnt. Then the question arises: who will pay for it? And since I don't want to have a 'normal' clutch installed again, I first need to think about the clutch. icon_cool.gif
