You can't exactly love a fourth-generation Golf SDI either. icon_wink.gif

It's best to get a brake system with a 288 mm disc size. You can find used ones for quite cheap.

Oh, in that case, you'll also need a screen size of greater than 14 inches.
Maybe the 280 brake pads still have some life left in them.

First, try a sharp setting at the back; it might be enough. Then, increase the sharpness in the front.
And open alloy rims also help to dissipate heat more effectively.

Regarding the braking habits you describe, I unfortunately cannot recommend anything different.

You can only advise people to learn how to better understand their materials and heat them without overheating them. Every Formula 1 driver has to deal with this too, otherwise it won't work.

I have open-style alloy wheels - 18 inch.
Well, I mentioned it at work today, and they just laughed. Maybe I really should take some of those sections a bit slower.
"I'm not exactly normal at night, that's probably true. I always just do it as quickly as possible so I don't have to encounter the regular Sunday riders in the morning, because then I would go crazy." icon_eek.gif

Now, I'm not a pilot, and I don't earn enough to afford that :-/. But you're right, I also don't want to break my equipment. Well, I'll see if there's a different way to do it this weekend icon_smile.gif.
And next time, I'm going to buy a decent car and have Rainer do some nice chip tuning on it, because I always look at them with envy icon_smile.gif, like those with 170 horsepower, ah *dream*. I just thought the SDI would be enough for work. grumble grumble....

Okay, but -- how are you going to get it to stand up icon_question.gif? The braking system that you would need for that probably wouldn't fit between the rim. icon_lol.gif

hehe, the humor is lacking here, to say the least icon_biggrin.gif.
Yeah, yeah, he who causes the damage should take responsibility for it, not try to make fun of it. That's so typical *lol*.

"A new anchor, or maybe some brake pads and rotors from Teile Klaus. Then, I'd change them at night on the road using a phone flashlight icon_biggrin.gif. Also, some carbon rims, bring along a mechanic, and someone to tell me the route, then I would have spent much longer than the 17-20 euros per hour I earned icon_smile.gif."

I know, I was also happy to receive so many tips.
Okay, I'll just wait and see for now. Based on my experience, I probably have about two more months. Then it will slowly become apparent, which I understand. It's quite annoying because it's just a company car... but I probably need to change something now icon_smile.gif.

Are you sure the pistons in the brake calipers aren't sticking?
With my Kadett D eighteen years ago, I had something similar. After pressing it back with the screwdriver, everything was okay. But as soon as I braked for the first time, I couldn't use the highest gear anymore! icon_sad.gif And after three kilometers, you could see one of the front brake discs glowing red in the dark. icon_rolleyes.gif
New brake caliper and I had the power back!

Here's the translation:

'By the way, another question: What is the power consumption of the SDI under such usage?'

Best regards, Chrigu.

Okay, the good one (referring to a car) uses up to 6 liters per 100 km, and I can't go beyond that, although I have to say I use it for 5 days on a single tank of fuel. Otherwise, I mostly drive in the city. It has a chip tuning modification and 225 tires. The fuel consumption is okay. Well, under normal driving conditions, everything seems fine; the brakes get hot, but within acceptable limits. However, I also tend to drive quite aggressively, meaning I brake very late. In my other job, it's also time-sensitive, but not as much as on weekends, and it doesn't make sense to do that in the city. I think everything is okay with the braking system; you can usually tell by looking at the brake pads. After the weekend, I can say whether this driving style might be the issue.
I have to admit that those are almost full-brake stops from 100... to 0, so it's somehow clear what happens. Maybe it's also fun icon_biggrin.gif.

Hi Tribe,
Let me know if the issue becomes urgent. Then we can do a brake disc test with a "test driver price" for the discs and get you a good price on the pads. We'll see how they perform based on your driving style.

hi...

Sure, I'd be happy to icon_smile.gif.

Last weekend, I actually behaved well. I really held back, and sure enough, the windows didn't get particularly hot. You could say they were at their usual temperature.

Now, these discs are definitely worn, and sooner or later they will have to be replaced. From now on, I will avoid such extreme braking maneuvers of up to "10 G," as it ultimately only leads to trouble icon_biggrin.gif.

Hello community icon_smile.gif

Here's the problem: I constantly have warped brake rotors. (The steering wheel then starts to vibrate after about 2000-3000 kilometers.)
...

I'm slowly running out of ideas. I never wash my car when the windows are hot, etc... what can I do? It's so annoying. icon_twisted.gif

Does anyone have any ideas besides 'don't brake too hard'? *hehe*

It would be really great if someone had a tip...

Hi there,

Du wäscht Dein Auto nie, wenn die Scheiben heiß sind. Afor a good reason...
I've heard before that the (heated) windshields can also warp due to the sudden temperature change from the shower function when driving through a puddle. So, it's the same principle at work.
Whether there are any aftermarket splash guards available is something I'm not aware of.

Greetings.

Eike.
