What kind of loss in comfort are we talking about?
Will the pump also be driven by the pinion gear, or does it require power from the transmission output shaft (KW)?
That definitely sounds interesting! Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Loss of comfort in the sense that the balancer module is intended to provide smoother operation, etc.

Then the only interesting thing now would be how to restructure the whole thing.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen a Golf with the engine from underneath yet. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Quote: | | The question now is how to further narrow down the possibilities? I can almost rule out an oil leak in the oil pump strainer, since the car has only had 15,000 km service intervals with Meguin 5w40. The mileage is 120,000 km, and the DPF has never activated (I triggered it once for testing). |
Which VW TDI diesel particulate filter (DPF) models have 5W40 oil listed as an approved lubricant?
The 50700 series are all 5W30.
Possibly, the oil pump may also stop working .

@Martin: I don't think the problem with the oil will be resolved.
In the A4 forum, there are numerous 2.0 TDI engines being discussed that have issues with twisted shafts or worn bevel gears, and all of them seem to be experiencing these problems around similar mileage levels.
There have also been a few engine failures.
And most people use long-life intervals with long-life oil.
I use 5W30 oil and change it every 15,000 km.
Unfortunately, this harmonic balancer module is a design flaw on the part of Volkswagen/Audi.
It seems that after the problems with the first version (chain drive), they realized this and made improvements.
However, it apparently didn't achieve much.

I currently use this oil in most of the cars I service. I asked the VW workshop about it, and they told me that it's not a problem as long as you stick to the 15,000-mile intervals.
As far as I can see now, the only advantage of using 507.00 oils is that they are better for the DPF (which was initially tested). So, it shouldn't be a problem in this case... Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Since 50700 is prescribed , I wouldn't talk about it being "better."
What do you mean by that?

Bitte gib mir den deutschen Text, den du übersetzt haben möchtest.
Do you apply it yourself?
BTW: I don't think everything will be fine with 5W30, but using the wrong oil is quite noticeable if you have problems with oil-related components.

I have a ??? (not BMR, Mod) (2.0 TDI 140PS) from my brother-in-law (Sharan) that has an oil pressure light illuminating above 2000 RPM.
To narrow down the source of the problem, I bought a dial gauge and installed it (it was really difficult to get to).
According to the workshop manual (WHB), when testing with a warm engine, you should see approximately 2 bar at around 2000 RPM.
I measured it while it was cold, and it didn't show any pressure at all.
What only irritated me was:
-It didn't show any error codes when idling (which is normal?).
- When I removed the sensor, no oil came out. I was expecting some (is that normal?).
Thank you very much in advance! |

That's unlikely, as my sister-in-law just drove away from the farm and didn't even make it 500 meters. That means no acceleration and very little distance traveled, so the turbocharger should have survived.
(But the thought also immediately occurred to me.)
I've now received the shaft and inserted it (for some reason, it no longer has an internal thread).
She has a slight amount of play in the balancer shaft module and a slightly larger amount of play in the oil pump.
We're going to test it with a small amount first; hopefully, it will work. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Good luck then .
May I ask how much the hexagon cost?
Did the parts dealer find the part directly, or did you have a part number (TN)?

He found it right away, and it costs around 3 euros.
I also ordered a canister of Meguin 507.00 oil for the diesel particulate filter vehicles. Thanks for the tip.
I will definitely report back if it didn't work out. Man muss es nicht brauchen, aber man muss es haben!

Hi there,
I'm currently wondering where the significant amount of shavings has gone that resulted from the difference between the hexagonal and round shaft. Gruß

Is it on the (magnetic?) oil drain plug? Or have they made their way all the way into the filter? Automobile Zeitzeugen: |SUZUKI Swift Sport (2008)| |Smart 450 (2002)| |Honda CB 125 F (2018)|

I've also asked myself this question before. However, I haven't found anything. I can only imagine that the parts ended up in the oil filter...

For cost-saving reasons, the oil drain plug does not have a magnet . They will probably be located at the bottom of the oil pan.
Best regards,

No magnet? It seems like they've built in a weak point after another! Couldn't one possibly retrofit such a screw?
Perhaps the oil pan should be flushed out. Or are all the wood shavings already stuck in the filter of the oil suction device? Automobile Zeitzeugen: |SUZUKI Swift Sport (2008)| |Smart 450 (2002)| |Honda CB 125 F (2018)|
