What is the current status of the discussions regarding fake EGR mass airflow sensors in this forum?
A decrease in the mass airflow sensor voltage when the EGR valve is activated shouldn't be that difficult to diagnose...

I didn't follow the story's development closely because I considered the solution through adaptation to be sufficient (so far).

My theoretical approach, which aims for the highest possible level of fault protection (since the mass airflow sensor circuit operates at 5V, while the EGR valve operates at 12V), involves using an optocoupler. However, I find this solution too complex to implement "unless absolutely necessary."

Regarding the adaptation process again, if I can no longer adjust the (air) settings there (in the image above) using VAGCom, then it's simply not possible, is it?

Or is there a way to 'override' the limit or adjust it in some other way icon_question.gif?

Chip tuning. However, no reputable tuner will do that for you, at least not with official approval (TÜV).

Why shouldn't a chip tuner offer a chip with TÜV certification that completely disables the EGR system?

The AGR (Abgasrückführung) system is designed to reduce NOx emissions. Therefore, without the AGR, there would be more NOx. This is not good for the environment. Correct. But does it necessarily lead to a failed TÜV (technical inspection)? In my opinion, no! Because NOx is not measured during the German vehicle inspection (AU).

Therefore, I don't see any reason why a tuner shouldn't offer chips with the EGR system deactivated and TÜV approval...

Regards,
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" is a German word that means "gust" or "gust of wind." It can also be used as a verb, meaning "to gust" or "to blow."

Here are some examples of how the word "Guste" can be used:

* "Der Guste wehte stark." (The gust of wind blew strongly.)
* "Der Wind gustete." (The wind gusted.)
* "Ich gustete." (I gusted.)

I hope this helps!

Hi,

Even if the exhaust values are changed (whether or not they are measured during the technical inspection), the car still loses its operating permit (ABE). Otherwise, even using a different gearbox, due to the resulting different emissions, would already be a problem. I think that the tuner must prove that the Euro x emissions standards are still met, and that this cannot be done solely through the technical inspection.

Best regards,

Jan.

Hopefully, no one will get the idea to measure the entire thing in its full width, because otherwise, you'd have to clean the entire intake manifold every two years.

A clogged exhaust manifold will definitely cause the approval certificate (ABE) to expire due to excessively high exhaust emissions icon_confused.gif.

HI,

It would be a great source of income for the workshops!

Or, even better: A new intake manifold and a new EGR unit every 60,000 km.

Best regards,

Jan.

Does anyone have a quick guide on how to remove the intake manifold for cleaning? What should I be careful of during the process?

And regarding adaptation: Can I increase the fresh air intake even without deactivating the AGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system? Is the maximum value of 33638 mentioned above now correct, or can it be higher depending on the model?

Best regards,

Toby.

What do you expect if you don't tell us which engine and car model you're referring to?

Yes, if an adaptation is possible.

Try entering a very high value.
When a smaller value is saved, it represents the model-specific maximum.

Hi.

I can't help you with the instructions, but maybe you could try searching for them online.

Regarding the value, all I can say is that it's no longer working for me (the up arrow disappears in VAGCom, and manually entering a higher value doesn't work either).
I think that definitely depends on the specific model!

'I've been dealing with this issue for a while now, and the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) keeps coming on and off intermittently... I think I'll just leave it for now and regularly check the error codes to make sure there are no other problems... Unfortunately, I don't have the time to design and build a proper circuit that I could install in this nearly new car without any worries.'

Post14-10-2004, 17:46    Subject: Adaptation Tested: My Experience Today Quote

Hello Forum Users,

The adaptation limits seem to be highly dependent on the specific model. Today, I was able to save a value of 29999 in channel 3. Even after a few kilometers of test driving, the value remained saved.

Questions: Do I need to reset the value before the annual service inspection (ASU)?
Will I get into trouble because of the adaptation? (I specifically didn't disable the AGR out of respect for the tax law).

Can someone precisely state what percentage of exhaust gases are being recirculated when the value is 29999? Which measurement block can I use to verify that the value of 29999 is actually being used?

I know many questions icon_wink.gif.

Greetings,

Toby.

If you've increased the air-fuel ratio, the soot values should tend to decrease rather than increase, which is better for the emissions test. For values of 29999, see below...

No idea - but if so, probably less than with a decommissioned nuclear power plant.
And the risk of discovery is likely to be close to zero.

Block 3, like the adaptation.
I don't know where the "%-AGR rate" is displayed -> search.

If you had a factory default value of 32768 (or something similar), then at 29999, more exhaust will be recirculated because the target air mass is reduced icon_exclaim.gif.

hello everyone.
I cleaned the intake manifold, then closed the opening with a plate, and now I'm noticing a significant decrease in performance.
Does anyone have any advice? Otherwise, I'll have to remove the sealant again and just bite the bullet and clean the bridge every two years.
Otherwise, everything is original except for the 10-cent piece.
just that plate between the intake manifold and the AGR valve.
best regards, chris

It's like saying an active EGR system should improve performance, which is about as likely as your gas tank filling itself up while you're driving.

IMO, the performance loss (how much exactly is it / what's the difference in delivery time, etc.?) likely has completely different causes, possibly a mistake made during cleaning.

hello ulf
I don't think it's a mistake made during cleaning, because everything is put back together the way it was before.
'And I even assembled the other two myself, using sealant, so I can rule out any leaks. I think that's the only explanation I can come up with. The problem is likely the impeller. Without the impeller, it felt more responsive and didn't have the issues it does now at 3000 RPM and 4100 RPM, where it's struggling and jerking.'
