Unfortunately, there's nothing new to report. I went on several test drives on Saturday and Sunday without any success. I also tried disconnecting the battery for 2 hours, but that didn't help either.


According to the error message in the brake control unit:
01044 - Control unit incorrectly programmed.
00778 - Steering angle sensor; calibration not performed.
01119 Signal for pedestrian detection (sporadic).
and in the MSTG:
18057 - Data bus fault, drive - P1649-35-00 - Missing message from the ABS control unit.

Unfortunately, there are increasingly more errors. The login for coding is not being accepted, and the coding in the BSTG system is set to 00000, which means I cannot make any changes.
Apparently, the coding might have been activated by the brake system test and then lost when I deactivated it in block 103, without being saved in VCDS.

Right now, I don't think I can fix the problem, even with your support. Is there another idea, or should I post another Autoscan?

Otherwise, my only option is to go to my preferred workshop, which is something I'd actually prefer to avoid.

Oh man, the error code for your brake control module, 04457, is listed in the car scan data that you yourself posted.

You don't even mention the system function test anymore, and I suspect it's long outdated.

Possibly, there is a need for knowledge about which function is used for what. Have you already read and understood the VCDS manual?

My advice would be not to perform any work on vehicle components that are critical to safety if you don't understand what you are doing.

Yes, the Autoscan from the week before last included the coding. Unfortunately, as mentioned before, it's no longer doing that now; everything is showing as 0000. I suspect that the "click system test" I set in block 103 is the reason it's stopped.
The system test is still ACTIVE, and I have intentionally not deleted any codes. I still cannot even access the login screen with the code 40168, so I cannot enter the codes 04457 and 05311, even if I try repeatedly; nothing is saved. Also, nothing is saved even after turning the ignition on and off.

I've read the manual and I think I understand it. I printed it out from a different source because the one here is read-only and printing is disabled.

As a beginner, I have been intensively exploring the software, but unfortunately, so far without success and certainly with beginner mistakes .
Thank you for the advice, but I only wanted to bleed the brakes. Now I'm dealing with coding, which wasn't my goal.

Maybe there's still a chance, I would be happy to hear it.

a) Why did you re-code 5x from 00000 to 04457?
b) Why didn't you enter any WSC codes in the VCDS program settings before attempting the coding process? For example, the WSC code that appears in the Autoscan for the brake control module.

If VCDS displays any messages, please read them and try to understand them. If you don't understand them, post them here. Don't just click things away without understanding!

I can't shake the feeling that you're pressing the buttons on the program randomly and without thinking.

Don't do that. VCDS is a professional tool. Either you know what's behind each action, or you should refrain from doing it.

Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you with a) and b)? If not, I strongly advise you to visit a workshop before you continue tinkering with safety-critical control units, otherwise, nothing might work as it should anymore.

Hello everyone,

After a few weeks and with the help of various people, I can finally announce some progress, but first, here are the answers to the previous post to give you a complete overview:
a) Several attempts were made with a former VW workshop employee, including starting the ignition, turning it off, closing the program, etc., but the coding was not accepted.
b) Also wurde WSC ebenfalls nicht akzeptiert oder gespeichert.

No further reports were received, so nothing was clicked away. I only missed the missing confirmation message from the login, which I mentioned earlier.

After these attempts, I took the car to a local repair shop. The mechanic tried repeatedly for over two weeks using a Bosch diagnostic tool, but was still unable to restore the original coding.

So, I made an appointment at a smaller VW workshop because, when dealing with a problem like this, I want to be able to talk to the service technician directly, rather than just having engine control units replaced randomly.
The employee's first attempt also failed, and he contacted the Tech Service Center, who provided him with instructions on how to proceed.
Unfortunately, this option also did not help to restore the coding. However, with the help of online support from VW TSC, it was determined that there was apparently a lock on the control unit, for whatever reason. After purchasing a deactivation code, the employee was finally able to restore the coding, and I was told that it cost 172€. I'm inclined to believe that.


I assume that I couldn't fix it with the resources available to me... but I definitely caused it .
