According to the table on at-rs.de, the pads mentioned should be compatible with all disc types.
Increased braking power when the brakes are warm is a characteristic of sports brake pads, which, while highly durable, need to be warmed up before a race.
I've been using EBC Greenstuff myself for a few years now, and I'm quite happy with it.

I have the standard ATE brake discs and ceramic brake pads on the front, and after about 50,000 km, I haven't noticed any issues. No cracks, slight surface rust visible through the coating.
I had TRW brake discs on the rear, and I only replaced the pads with ATE Ceramic pads. The pads didn't fit the discs. Poor braking performance; the pads are unable to prevent rust from forming on the disc.
However, even with Ate original brake pads, the TRW pads didn't really work well.
Braking performance, less toxic than with "conventional" pads, and easier to modulate.
It requires slightly more pedal pressure, but the braking effect is the same.
The amount of brake dust has decreased by a good 90%, which is great.
I don't want to trade anymore.

I've now performed several high-speed braking maneuvers from maximum velocity, deliberately trying to induce high loads. In these situations, the ceramic brakes haven't exactly lived up to expectations. The loud noise and significant brake fade will likely lead me to choose OEM brake pads again when it's time for a replacement. However, I probably won't be driving the GTD for much longer, so I won't be downgrading here anymore.
The image quality remains excellent.

I had significant problems with ATE Ceramic brake pads, as you can see here: /viewtopic.php?t=28806.

"You wouldn't believe what I just found while browsing a car marketplace website for my C211. I came across ceramic brake pads."
Below the product description, you will find a note:
Quote: | | NOTE: Under ATE reference number 13.0470-2732.2, in 2015, ATE changed the friction material composition, resulting in the extreme long service life no longer being achieved. (Performance is equivalent to standard quality). This quality is offered more cheaply by our competitors. At our request, ATE has reintroduced the original quality under a different ATE reference number, ...9000.2, as a special taxi version. You can currently find this particularly economical, durable, and high-quality product almost exclusively with us. |
Is there any truth to that, and are the pads for other brands also affected by this change?

Hi,
I unfortunately have to confirm the negative experiences that are being shared here.
I own a Fabia 6Y RS (1.9TDI with 288mm Lucas front brake discs and 232mm Lucas rear brake discs). Around the same time, ATE Powerdisc brake rotors were installed all around, along with ATE Ceramic brake pads. After about 1 year and 12,000 km, the braking performance was very poor. Even the TÜV (German technical inspection agency) was no longer willing to approve the rear brake system.
The wear pattern also showed peculiar grooves and surface structures on the brake discs. Furthermore, the brake pads were not properly seated in some areas, which naturally explains the significantly reduced braking performance.
Since then, it was upgraded with Brembo MAX brake discs in combination with standard Brembo brake pads, and the braking system now works very well and provides a direct feel.

I installed ceramic brake pads on my B7, using the original brake rotors. It worked perfectly. No rust, no squealing (that's why the originals failed around 60,000 km), and decent braking performance.
Since the images above are also from a B7, I'm a bit surprised.
However, it seems we have to say that it's likely a city car or a vehicle with a small engine. I've never been one to be overly cautious, and I'm not afraid to drive in a fairly progressive manner.
For my A5, I'm now considering getting new brake pads for the front, as the original ones are almost worn out after only 30,000 km. However, the brake discs already have some ridges on them. It's possible that brake discs are generally made with a softer material these days. I used to know the rule of thumb that the brake disc lasts twice as long as the brake pads.

Well, it's actually quite well known that ceramic coatings react poorly to grooved or perforated discs. ATE itself advises against this combination in its online catalog.
