Hello,

'When I'm driving my Ibiza 6K AFN in reverse, especially when applying a little bit of throttle, I notice an increase in vibration.'
The noises are normal when moving forward.

'Does anyone recognize this issue? Should I be concerned about the gear pairings in reverse, or is it more likely a problem with the motor mounts? I'd prefer it to be the motor mounts. The way the motor is supported in reverse is completely different.'

Hello Martin,

You need to describe the problem in a bit more detail.

It's rather unlikely that the problem is with the transmission.
It is much more likely that the drive shafts and their joints, as well as the engine mounts, are the cause.

Dieselmartin has described the effects of damaged engine mounts and their testing methods on several occasions. Try searching for information there.

Best regards, Georg.

Regarding the transmission:

Unfortunately, the gears are not helical, as they have been in Audi for a longer time, but spur gears, which is why there are those whining noises.

I don't know if howling can also produce vibrations.

When driving in reverse with a lot of power (e.g., going uphill), the motor mount on my small engine (which I have since replaced) would slip when the clutch was disengaged.

Okay, as Georg said, check the bearings. Test them thoroughly; they should be able to handle the 235 Nm of torque from your AFN engine. And before you manage to pull the motor out of the large passenger-side bearing housing, you'll definitely be sweating icon_smile.gif.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

... there was another T.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.
