Singing engine noise on the AJM

Hi everyone,

I've recently been having a problem (or possibly just an issue?) with my AJMs.
At speeds above 1500 RPM, a strange 'whining' sound can be heard (both at idle and while driving). It sounds almost like a faulty water pump or something similar.

Are you familiar with this sound?

Volkswagen Golf IV, manufactured in April 2001.
AJM, 115 hp.
19,000 km

Is everything secured? (Heat shields, covers, hoses...)
This often produces what are known as "singing sounds."
