Hi, I noticed this week that one of the glow plugs is faulty in my Seat Ibiza AFN.
Today I went to a car parts dealer, and he gave me a Beru spark plug because it's listed in his AKTE catalog! However, I actually have a Bosch spark plug installed.
Now, my question is: Are the Beru spark plugs compatible with Bosch spark plugs?
I have some concerns because the glow plug has a different shape.
Furthermore, I would only like to replace one candle because four new ones would cost me €106.88!
What would you do? I completely forgot to mention that the other tires have 135,000 km on them.
Thank you very much for your quick help.

... Replace the faulty spark plug with the new one, and that's it. Gruß Bertil

First of all, thank you very much for getting back to me so quickly.
I could have also contacted Bosch directly to inquire whether they still have that spark plug in stock.

Build them in, and that's a good thing!

Hi,
Perhaps you could also check out one of the world's largest online auction houses sometime.
I just ordered two Bosch Duratherm glow plugs for my AFN. They cost 24.48 euros including shipping (2 x 9.99 euros + 4.50 euros shipping). Last January, I bought the exact same two glow plugs from the local Bosch service, and they cost a whopping 39.20 euros (2 x 19.60 euros).
In the end, you save 5.11 euros (including shipping costs) by buying just one glow plug.
Just to compare that to the completely overpriced 106.88 euros for just four pieces.
Best, Andy.

Hi,
It would be interesting to see if the new candle, due to its different shape, also has a different volume. Since it sits in the combustion chamber, a different volume could potentially have an impact (even if only a small one) on the cylinder's compression.
Now the question is whether it makes sense to only replace one.
If you want to exchange them all, it's possible that you might end up with one that actually still works. This has happened to some people before.
It might be more economical to only replace the defective one. The recommendation to replace all of them usually comes from those who profit from it...
Greetings.
Eike.
