Extend Gear Ratio: How To & Benefits

Hello,

I bought an A4 1.9 TDI with 110 horsepower, and unfortunately, it has such short gearing that I can already reach its top speed at 100 km/h.

"According to Elsawin, the translation in position 5 for me is 28:41 = 0.683 (APL)."

There probably isn't anything bigger, right?

Can the axle ratio be changed, or is that not possible?

"It's really frustrating because I often use the train, and right now I'm constantly stuck around 4000 RPM. If I even reach 210 km/h according to the GPS, I'm already in the red zone!"

A 6-speed gearbox isn't exactly cheap... Would the one from a 2.5 TDI fit?

Could you possibly get more performance by using larger tires?

On the G3 Var, the transmission is also shorter than on the standard G3, but it has larger tires to compensate: 195/60 14 instead of 185/60 14, which is 2% larger.

I had slightly larger tires registered for my vehicle.
