Hello,
Was Could it be?
I took a look at the control arm or that bushing. There are definitely some small cracks in the rubber or whatever material it is. However, I can't imagine that this is causing the clicking sound.
What do you think?
Thank you.
Best regards.

It could also be the wheel bearing. Simply jack up the car and turn the wheel to see if you can hear any knocking sounds. Also, see the rather long thread 'Front axle noise when turning right.'

'It seems okay, I also tried that... and there are no other noises to be heard.'

Hello!

I probably had similar noises on my Golf III Variant.
It was worn-out silent bushings in the front lower control arms, with significant play.

Best regards, D.

Thanks for the answers. I'll have someone check the lower control arms (assuming I even have them...).

'...so, the clicking noise is fixed. It was the rubber bushings on the front stabilizer bars. I replaced them for 80 euros, and everything is great now.'

'They tried to tell me to replace the entire control arm assembly, those clueless VW guys... total rip-off artists.'
