Hello,

The ABS control unit in my Lupo 3L (ABS control unit part number 6E0 907 379) is defective.

"I just got one from a Lupo 50hp gasoline engine (1J0 907 379 G), installed it, and now I'm getting the error message 'Control unit incorrectly coded' in the diagnostic system."
Can it be re-encoded?

The current code is 05703 WSC 01233.

Shouldn't the new one then be 05623 with WSC 01286? ??????????

The WSC is the workshop code, and it doesn't matter...

Regarding reprogramming: It's worth trying. However, since the part number is different, it's questionable whether the process will be successful and whether the control unit is even compatible with the vehicle.

Best regards, Rainer.

How do you actually determine that these control units are compatible?

6E0 907 379 = Conti/Teves MK30
1J0 907 379 G = Conti/Teves MK20

Install the correct control unit, and then it will also work with the vehicle. What you're trying to do here can actually only be recorded under "Low-Value Business Transactions" (LBBT).

Okay, I've seen in several posts about people remapping the engine control unit (ECU) from a Golf to a Passat.
ABS control unit read.

The question is whether anyone has ever tried both variations (see above).

According to VAG, the parts with part numbers 6E0 907 375 and 6E0 907 379 A should also be compatible.
The frustrating thing is: the friendly VAG dealer wants a whopping 497 euros for the part, and the 3L ABS control units (6E0 907 375) are quite rare to find used.

P.S. The hydraulic blocks underneath where the part is located are identical in both vehicles.

May I ask which VAG-COM version and hardware you are using for the reprogramming?

I have been using a diagnostic tool borrowed from a friend who runs a car repair shop.
The device is made by Bosch.

I will also be purchasing a VAG-Com system with the necessary hardware. I would be grateful for any recommendations for the Lupo 3L – which one should I buy? Does it need to be CAN-bus compatible, or is KKL sufficient?

Sure, here's the translation:

"Hello, I'm new here and looking for a solution to get my 3L (1.2 TDI, engine code ANY) engine running without the transmission control unit, as I want to convert the transmission to a manual gearbox."
Can the engine control unit be programmed to function without a separate transmission control unit?
Best regards,
Peter.

I recently read that even VAG (Volkswagen Group) offers the option to replace the semi-automatic transmissions on the 3L TDI models with manual transmissions.
Therefore, the recoding to manual mode should either be possible or unnecessary. However, Sebastian needs to confirm or correct this icon_exclaim.gif.

Interesting that the conversion can also be done by VAG.
At the very least, this will cause you to lose the '3L consumption' status.

Best regards, Jochen.

If that were the case, that would be absolutely fantastic. It would be great if someone had more detailed information.

peter

What about "flash boosters" or similar devices that allow access to the engine control unit? Could I use such a device to reprogram the ECU of a Lupo 3L in a way that allows the engine to run without the transmission control unit?
I would be very grateful for any tips!

peter

So far, you're only making theoretical leaps, but it seems you haven't looked at the real data yet. The 085 is just an automated manual transmission, and as far as I can tell, the engine electronics treat it like a normal manual transmission. From this perspective, the conversion shouldn't be a problem; besides, we've already gotten much more complex things working... icon_lol.gif

The engine control unit (ECU) receives data from the transmission control unit (TCU) regarding the selected gear and the clutch actuator. Without this data, the ECU initially prevents the engine from starting. If I disconnect the TCU from the CAN bus, then essentially nothing will work.
Sure, I'll start with some theoretical considerations, and I'm hoping you can give me some advice so I can practically implement my project. For me, there are currently several options: I could either call several tuning workshops and get quotes for reprogramming the engine control unit. Alternatively, I could buy a flasher with software for my own use, but that doesn't seem cost-effective for a single reprogramming. Besides, I'm not yet sure if I can rewrite the software the way I want to.
That's why I signed up here, because this forum and its members seemed the most knowledgeable to me. So, what should I do?
Happy Pentecost from the Teutoburg Forest!
Peter.

Hello Hello icon_biggrin.gif
"Does anyone have any ideas? I've already called several tuning shops. But all of them refuse to reprogram the engine control unit, citing "liability reasons"."

How do I get the engine to start? Please help me!

Peter.

Have you already inquired with Volkswagen about what's involved in the 'official' conversion process?

'The transmission solenoid (SG) will likely be removed as well, and the car will still run (presumably).'

Best regards, Jochen.

I have inquired with several VW workshops and also the VW hotline. Such an action is not known icon_sad.gif.
As I said - no engine start without a transmission control unit!
