Hi,

I have finally decided to have my 115 hp TDI PD engine chipped.
After a lot of consideration, I finally decided to go with Oettinger. The reason is that their customer service was by far the best, the warranty on my engine, which already has 32,000 km, is 2 years, and ultimately, the price isn't too high.

I will then describe my experiences.

best regards
zodiac

May I revive this thread?
I would really like to know how things turned out with Oettinger.
Also, I'm also considering a performance upgrade for it (IBI 6L, 96 kW).
Best regards from East Frisia!

Hello everyone,

"I took my car, which has a 115 hp PD (common rail) engine, there about 4 years ago. I'm very happy with the service so far. My car has about 140,000 km on it, and about 110,000 km of that with an Oettinger performance chip!"

Best regards.

Wow! That sounds good! Oettinger would apparently increase the 130hp engine to 150hp according to their offer. That would absolutely be enough for me, and I think that would also be a good compromise in terms of durability, which you (Frank) seem to be able to confirm. Durability is more important to me than maximum performance icon_smile.gif. Thank you for your reply! Anyone else have anything to add?

... however, if we consider the general range of performance figures for TDIs (currently, even my untuned Polo produces around 140 horsepower according to DZR, which is by no means exceptional), then Oettinger would only need to "add" 10 horsepower to fulfill its promise.

I guess things are probably the same for you... I would suggest taking it for a dyno test first, and then having them add 20 horsepower.
You will definitely feel a more noticeable difference than when a "slightly more powerful" engine, for example, with 145 horsepower, is tuned to 150 horsepower icon_wink.gif.

'Yes, I've read a lot about this wide range of performance variations. However, I don't think mine is significantly more powerful than the specified output. I did a power test from 2000 to 4000 RPM and got times between 6.1 and 6.2 seconds. I think that's roughly 'normal,' right?'
You can also calculate that for me if you have time, that would be very kind.
It's an Ibiza 6L, manufactured in 02/2003, a 5-door model, with standard wheels (15 inches) and 195 tires. The fuel tank was about half full when measured, and I weigh 90kg (okay, maybe 2-3kg more...). There was a PC in the trunk (approximately 8-10kg), and otherwise, it had almost everything except air conditioning, leather seats, and a sunroof.

For the weight, I would simply go to the TÜV (technical inspection authority) and politely ask. It's best to go on a Friday afternoon, when there are no more customers and the employees are looking forward to the weekend.

I was weighed for free (including with the car around me), and the result was significantly more than what the vehicle registration document states. It showed 1350 kg with an empty tank, instead of the registered 1195 kg. And I weigh exactly the "claimed" 75 kg icon_wink.gif.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

You can also feel free to calculate that for me sometime, that would be very nice.

Based on my Polo with the long gearbox (6th gear: 2000 rpm at 120 km/h) and an estimated curb weight of 1300 kg, my calculations for your car already indicate approximately 149 horsepower.

The last few horsepower could certainly be easily faked on a test bench, without Öttinger having to do any actual tuning.

That sounds nice... however, I also don't want to rely too much on the times I've recorded. It would be great if the car had a little more 'oomph' in certain RPM ranges... but it will probably take some time before I ultimately make that decision. Thanks very much for your help so far!

Previously, I compared my WKR-tuned Golf4 ALH (90->125PS/325Nm) to an identical Golf4 owned by a friend, which had an Oettinger chip (90->115PS/260Nm). The performance gains from the Oettinger chip were almost as good as what I had achieved before chipping my own car. The throttle response wasn't as impressive either; my ALH felt much more lively. Perhaps it's better now. icon_wink.gif

@ulf:
The vehicle registration document says 1293 kg, I checked again. Does that give a different result?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

If the price includes the driver, as is common in Germany, then the calculation of 1300 kg is probably not too far off.

Hello Ulf,

Oettinger claims that their tuning provides 140 horsepower for my 115 hp PD engine, but I've never actually had it checked. I believe my car's power output was significantly lower than that. My PD engine had trouble keeping up with 90 hp models, and even 100 hp PD models would pull away from me. The acceleration improved significantly with the chip, and the top speed increased considerably due to the long 6-speed gearbox. My PD engine is quite sensitive to the weather; the colder it is, the worse it runs! (It's strange, but that's how it is.) This behavior is less pronounced with the chip installed.
-Tachoanzeige vorm Chippen : typische Endgesch. 195 -200 km/h wenn Temp+wind +... ideal bis heiß dann auch mal 205km/h Im Winter manchmal nur 190km/h egal ob 5. oder 6. Hey!
- Speedometer reading with chip: typical top speed of 210 km/h, potentially reaching 215-220 km/h under ideal conditions (temperature, wind, etc.).

"On a downhill slope, it can sometimes reach 230 km/h (4100 rpm)! But that's the limit; you can't get any more out of this car! To put it simply, around 200 km/h, the engine starts to struggle. You really have to remove the 'T' from 'TDI' because everything now requires a lot of momentum to achieve."

Best regards,

Frank.
