Evening.

Today, it finally happened. I now also have a PD-VW. I struggled with the decision for a long time and actually didn't want a modern car! But I fell in love with this one, and today I picked it up! It's a Passat Variant from 2001, with a 130hp PD engine, 285 Nm of torque, and an AWX engine code. This thing drives like a rocket!

If you're interested, feel free to take a look at the pictures!

Well, I'm very, very sorry about my good old 1z. The car had a soul, and it always got me at least to my doorstep. But I have some consolation: it only changed sides in my yard, meaning the garage side. That means I can still keep it for maintenance!!! icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Hi!

Nice car, congratulations!
Is it leather? It's not possible to tell from the photos.

Best regards,
Uwe

Hi Jörg,

. . . it takes a loooong time before you write your first frustrated or problem-related post here icon_rolleyes.gif.

"Cautious congratulations" from me as well *gg*.

Um, don't all engines with 130 horsepower always have 310 Nm of torque?

Best regards,
Uwe

@uwe

285 nm at 5 gears.
310 nm at 6 gears.

Unfortunately, it's not made of leather! It wasn't available in that material, and unfortunately, my budget wouldn't have allowed for it anyway.

@ulf

I hope and wish that it will be a long time before there's another frustrating post! All the known 'childhood diseases' of this car should have been fixed by now!

Hi Jörg,

Welcome to the PD "Tretern" group.

A new Passat with a 5-speed gearbox? I thought the 130hp PD engines always came with a 6-speed gearbox, or is that only the case with the Golf?
Do you already have an AHK connected? If you attach your caravan to it, you need to be careful not to disassemble it when starting off icon_wink.gif.

@bertil

The Passat isn't brand new. It's from the year 2001, and that model came with a 5-speed transmission.
Well, I have no concerns about having the caravan attached at the back. Certainly, this new combination will be a bit more stable than the old one! icon_biggrin.gif
and the AHK was installed as standard!

The car is so much fun!

I learned something new again!

"... a bit more powerful"? If you use the word "significant" there, it makes sense. My AXR is no longer comparable to the 1Z (despite having over 150 kg more "comfort weight").

I believe it. I once had a Passat with 130 horsepower as a rental car, and I have to say it was fast. However, the power delivery felt somewhat uneven. Sometimes it felt like a jolt in the back. My AXR engine is much smoother in comparison.

@bertil

Yes, yes. That's exactly what I meant with 'slightly more grip'! I just forgot the quotation marks! icon_biggrin.gif

You are absolutely right, the whole car is a completely different world. I never thought a diesel could be so quiet! And as for driving: 'hell' is just the first name of this whole experience!!!!!! icon_biggrin.gif Although, I have to admit you're right that the uneven acceleration takes some getting used to. But still, it's an amazing car! Even my wife was impressed. And that means something!!!! icon_eek.gif

During the extended May 1st holiday weekend, we're going on our first camping trip with the caravan. I'm really looking forward to it!

@everyone
I'm still looking for the diagnostic port on the vehicle. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find it yet. Can anyone help me with that? Or do I need a new pair of glasses? icon_question.gif

Hi,

Try looking under the cover next to the handbrake lever icon_rolleyes.gif.

Best regards, Andy.

Hi Jörg,

In the adapter technical articles, there are usually overviews showing where the socket is located on each type of car. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Unfortunately, I am currently unable to access it --> it is being closed due to an invalid process... icon_evil.gif

Hi,
This should not be a joke icon_confused.gif, the interface is actually there. To the right of the handbrake lever, in the direction of travel, there is a cover. You can remove this cover, and underneath it is the OBD socket. You can also see this in diagnostic articles.
Best regards, Andy.

@andy

No! There's really a beer can holder there! This isn't a joke.

@ulf
The installation locations from the overview don't fit! They also don't fit with DRV!

but I have it now!!!! It's located somewhere quite close to the clutch pedal. You can only see it if you lie down! And it's positioned in such a way that you have to unplug the connector when using the clutch!!!! icon_redface.gif

Well, communication works right away, without errors, with the default settings! Who would have thought it? icon_smile.gif

Hi,
Then I would be interested to know when they changed it again. Well, now they have found a much better place to install it icon_evil.gif icon_evil.gif icon_evil.gif.

Hi Jörg,

Okay, the regulation only requires that the socket be located near the driver's seat... regarding whether it is sensible or nonsensical, there apparently isn't anything specified icon_evil.gif.

Well, at least... hopefully the car won't have any other (PD-)nastiness in store icon_confused.gif.
