Hello,

I have the A4 AH (convertible) with the BPW engine (2.0 TDI with swirl flaps). When I ordered the car, there was no automatic transmission available for this model in the Audi configurator. Some time before and in the following year, Audi again offered the Multitronic automatic transmission for the PD diesel engine.

Can the Multitronic transmission be retrofitted to such a vehicle? I suspect that the parts list would include items such as: engine control unit, complete transmission, gear selector mechanism, or even more?
Would it also be necessary to demonstrate the effectiveness of the exhaust gas treatment system after the modification?

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much this would cost? Perhaps someone offers this as a conversion service?

The surcharge for a used car in exchange for mine is probably lower than the cost of a conversion, but I would rather invest in the vehicle I know than trade it for something unfamiliar.

Thank you very much, Renndiesel.

If you Google 'multitronic,' you'll probably reconsider how you feel about retrofitting it.
I haven't heard much good about this transmission.

I understand what you mean, and that's probably why I wouldn't have ordered the MT back then. But from what I'm reading, Audi seems to have made improvements since.
The sluggishness when starting (at the intersection) and the reliability (due to the 7-plate design) have been improved, so it now seems to be a quite decent transmission - except that some drivers' sense of feel doesn't quite match the sound of the engine (because the engine speed temporarily remains constant during acceleration).

Best regards, Raubdiesel.

Tipp von mir: Verkauf das Auto, und kauf dir eins mit Multitronic. Glaub mir, die Teile die du oben aufgezählt hast, sind ein Bruchteil von dem was du alles brauchst. Here are some more:

- Engine/Transmission wiring harness.
- Transmission oil cooler with all hoses.
- Transmission control unit
- Complete pedal assembly, possibly including a power brake booster.
- and hundreds of small parts for a lot of money.

Believe me, it's not worth it!

Hello TDI-GTI-4-Motion,

I understand. That's really too much.

Thank you for the quick and helpful response.
