Good evening, everyone.
Let's say that the following happened to the brother-in-law of a friend of my neighbor:
He filled almost 60 liters of gasoline into the empty tank of his AUDI A4 (1.9 TDI 8E from 2007, 50,000 km), drove another 800 meters, and then the engine stopped. He realized: The tank was full of regular gasoline.
The car is being towed to the repair shop.
ADAC says: Repair it and then sell it as quickly as possible – you never know what else might break.
A friend who's a car mechanic says: 'It's not that bad. Remove the diesel engine, maybe the fuel pump too, and then we'll see.'
What do you mean? What should I, or my brother-in-law , have replaced? Does the car need to be sold? Or is it not as dramatic as it seems?
I'm very interested to hear your opinions...
Regards,
Kottan.

Hey old brother-in-law, I'd suggest listening to the expert and, for now, filling the DiFi with 2T engine oil and then seeing how it goes. Gruß, der Teileklaus

"I've experienced something similar before, even with almost the same car, an A4 8E, manufactured in 2004, with the AVF engine and 130 horsepower. The tank was almost empty, and I added about 20 liters of gasoline. It only managed to drive another 3 kilometers. I had to have it towed. They drained the tank, flushed the lines, and replaced the diesel filter. This happened when the car had about 85,000 kilometers on it. The owner still has the car, and it now has over 200,000 kilometers, and so far, there haven't been any other issues."
Just try it sometimes, and if you're lucky, nothing else will happen. Of course, you could also be unlucky, and the PD elements might fail later on. MfG. Michael

I've experienced something similar with an AJM PD before.

Our company's field technicians experienced the same issue with their Touran PD vehicles: they were completely full of fuel and then simply stopped working. Otherwise, like with the other vehicles, they were drained, the fuel filter was replaced, and they were able to continue.
It's too late now anyway. Just give him the stuff and see what he says. Passat Variant BGW 2005

What reason would the brother-in-law of your neighbor's friend give to a potential buyer as a reason to buy the property?
- Incorrect fueling and fear of consequential damage? Probably not, otherwise the vehicle would be very cheap.
- something else? That would likely be a deliberate concealment of a suspected damage. Aside from the legal aspect, you could let the brother-in-law of your neighbor's friend know that this is not a way to treat his unsuspecting fellow citizens.
Rinse, replace the filter, and - if, against all expectations, something breaks - repair it. Then you just have to deal with the mistake you made and its consequences.
Herbert.

The mechanic really went all out, replaced the fuel filter, and flushed the system with a lot of diesel. He wasn't familiar with the trick of using 2-stroke engine oil.
'@ Herbert: My brother-in-law didn't give any thought to the reason for selling; the idea didn't come from him. My neighbor's friend thinks he remembers the exact wording: 'Ship that thing to Ukraine.' My neighbor, in turn, is wondering if that's morally acceptable. Morality aside, I certainly don't want to have any problems with Ukrainian car dealers, so I'll keep driving the car. Thanks for the tips - I'll report back if there's any damage!'

Hi there...
My mother did the same thing with a T4 *hehe*.
Well...
He was also drained, filled with diesel, the lines were flushed, and a new filter was installed, just like described above.
Approximately 100,000 km later, everything is still in perfect condition! ;-D

If the engine stalled immediately, that's better than driving 500 km with 20% Super 500 fuel and pushing it hard.
Okay, have fun with the refueling, and say hello to the friend of the neighbor's brother-in-law.
He should send me the stuff. Gruß, der Teileklaus

Hi!
I've also had a few similar cases, and the cars have all managed to handle it.
It's nice to be happy sometimes.
When the fuel tank of a van was almost empty, and then filled completely with gasoline.
"With this offer, you get a lawnmower for free for years."
Inferior mixtures end up in the workshop's heating oil tank, and the heating systems/oil furnaces can handle it. Grüße, Steffen!

Okay, now we can better assess the ethical standards and sales practices of the ADAC (employee).

Well, I wouldn't want to turn the ADAC into a "boo-man" right away.
He was having a bad day, or perhaps he had simply had those kinds of experiences .

Of course, I've also dealt with some of these cases before! It involves siphoning the fuel tank and flushing the lines.
Jetzt meine Frage!: Wieso den Difi mit 2T Öl füllen? DThat's new to me!
Or, what are the advantages and disadvantages of that?

After a Mercedes mechanic told me that adding motor oil to the Krafi (a type of fuel additive) would provide more lubrication to the injection system (and supposedly be beneficial), I decided to try it.
"It should work. It also has the advantage that the frog valve is easier to install."
2 Takt Öl verbrennt rückstandsfreier, und wenn Mot.Öl gut, ist erst recht 2 T Öl. So my version.
Especially since some people are willing to contribute towards the fuel. Gruß, der Teileklaus

Ahhhh...
Let's say I want to do something nice for my AVB (Automatic Vehicle Braking system)?
How much 2T oil should I add to a full tank?
Should it be added directly into the fuel tank filler neck, or directly onto the fuel filter?
Wouldn't that be bad for the pump?
