Hi.
(Image)
This is supposed to be an original VW short shifter.
Apparently, everyone has the 1K0 711 046 N part installed - and that definitely can't be right?!?!?
Can someone confirm the part number 8J0 711 046 B?

So, 100 people have read it, and nobody cares .
That's enough reason for me to order it, because then I'll be one of the 100 people who have it (that was a joke). But I will order it.
Then there will also be an installation guide.

Hello,
The short shift linkage 8J0 711 046 B is included with the S3 models from the year 2003 onwards (?), and costs €23.50. I ordered it today, and I'm hoping it will give my A3 8P with a BKD engine the same short shift feel as the S3. According to information from another forum, you need to replace the cable clamp until the year 2005 (the question mark is from the original post) because the fixing pin on the shift linkage lever has a 10 mm pin for attaching the shift cable, along with the corresponding cable clamp. However, the new lever has an 8.5 mm pin.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Most likely, the hole for attaching the cable linkage is simply located closer to the axis of rotation.
A drill or a welding machine might have also been sufficient.
If you have a picture showing the lever (I'm not sure which specific configuration the picture depicts), you can determine the same drilling position by transferring the proportions, for example, of the mounting nut.
Best regards, Rainer.

As far as I know, the locking mechanism is included when you buy the lever.
The day after tomorrow, I will know more .
Then there are also photos of the standard, long, and short versions (which is probably also used in the GTI Edition30).

People who spend so much money upgrading a car like an expensive Passat probably can't afford anything else.
Okay, otherwise, I'm not too picky about the prices when it comes to tools.
But the display is ideal for photos.

Okay, please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
The part is installed and it drives quite nicely. It's not extremely short, but it feels a bit more responsive.
I can recommend it.
The most important change was probably that I re-lubricated the sliding joint and the selector/shift mechanism, which connects to the transmission on a single shaft (where the MQ 350 is located).
After only 37,000 kilometers, the old gear stick here shows clear signs of wear and tear.
Generally, the old lever is covered with a layer of fine, but well-adhering dirt from the front. This dirt also accumulates wonderfully in the grease of the sliding piece. Smooth shifting is quickly a thing of the past.

To the 1.9 TDI section, those of you who are messing around with an MQ250.
Your solution is called 8J0 711 046 A.

Does that also apply to a 2003 EEN?

"Hey, since you're writing about cleaning and greasing things, I'm also having some issues with the shifting on my car, which has 240,000 km, a 6-speed transmission, and 4Motion. Would the S3 part also fit in my case?"
Shorter shift travel wouldn't actually be that bad.
Did you have to readjust the settings after that?
EDIT: If I remember correctly, the gearbox code should be ESW.
EDIT 2: If I understand correctly, and I remove that diverter lever from my machine, nothing will happen, right? Just the nut that holds it onto the shift shaft in the gearbox? Or will it fall into the gearbox? Because if that happens, I could at least clean and lubricate it from behind.

dieselmartin wrote: | | Does it fit?: | However, it apparently doesn't fit on all M350 models: Regarding the shift lever, the 9N and 6L models have the forward-reverse lever and the up-down block one after the other, instead of facing each other.
Even with the standard version, the forward-reverse lever is so short that the cable head, when a gear is engaged, almost touches the up-down control lever.
Therefore, implementing a SWV (Steering Wheel Vibration) would require a complete redesign of the steering column actuation system...
