VCDS Installation CD Missing: Troubleshooting Guide

I wish you a very merry Christmas.
I have a problem.
My original VCDS installation CD is missing. If I download a version from my customer account at http://shop.dieselschrauber.de and install it, the connection to MSG doesn't work. I think I once read that you always have to install with the original CD first, and then possibly perform updates. If that's the case, what options do I have if I can't find my CD?

The standard installation package is sufficient. You have a different problem. Are other control units affected?

Hi... thanks for the quick reply... I'll see what might be causing it. Another MSG to test isn't readily available here... but the laptop already acted strangely during the installation of the USB drivers. I'll take another look. Now that I know a normally downloaded installation package is sufficient, I can rule that out as the problem.

ok... it's working now... it was due to the installation of the USB drivers... have a nice Boxing Day... cheers

This is only intended as a help for the initial installation; after use, it can be disposed of. Usually, VCDS automatically downloads updates when there is internet access; otherwise, the installation package in the customer account is identical to the one on the CD.
