Hello everyone...
I hope someone can still help me.
I have a Sharan 2.0 TDI (BRT engine), and my MFA display shows 'Exhaust system - workshop'.
Okay, so I did that, of course, and dutifully paid the €26 for a fault diagnosis which I couldn't understand anything about. The mechanic said they would need another 2-3 hours to find the problem, as it wasn't easy to locate.
Error in the control unit:
I just finished reading that.

First, check the soot level in the DPF, then see if the differential pressure sensor and temperature sensors are displaying reasonable values.
Best regards, Rainer.

Okay, I'd like to do that. With which measurement blocks can I see this data!?
I have the latest version of VCDS, and I was able to use it successfully with my old 1Z car. However, this one has so many values/parameters...
To everyone: Feel free to keep any spelling mistakes you find *lol*. Thanks!
Best regards, michi.

Hello,
Please refer to measurement block (MB) 67 and subsequent blocks. See the corresponding label file; within VCDS, click on the filename located in the upper left corner of the measurement block area.
Best regards, Rainer.

Thanks for the information, I'll try that today.

WOW.
I've seen some that weigh more than 60 grams before... but 104?
You should be happy that it's still running at all.
Or is the BRT something "different" that doesn't have the 60g limit?

What? Wow...
Do you mean the ash in the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)?
If that's a lot, I don't understand because the DPF was replaced at 120,000 km!
Could it be that this wasn't reset?
*I want my money back.*

If the DPF has been replaced (and you're not driving the vehicle with a fuel consumption of 30 liters per 100 kilometers), then the replacement was likely not done correctly.
The exchange also includes resetting the ash mass.
That part really has to handle a lot, because based on my calculations and my not-so-economical burning rate, I'm already approaching nearly 200,000 kilometers before I produce 60 grams of ash.
75,000 km with 22 grams -> 60/22 * 75,000 km = 204,545 km (assuming 6.9 liters per 100 km have been consumed since the beginning).
I got 22g / 750,000 km = 0.293 (whatever).
So, you have 104 grams of ash after 176,000 kilometers: 104 / 176,000 = 0.59.
Du muesstest also 6,9 * (0.59/0.293) fast 14 l/100km verbrauchen !?!??!?!
Something is definitely wrong here.

I also think something is off here. If we assume that it was replaced with 120,000 kilometers on the odometer (according to the workshop), then it's been running for at least 55,000 kilometers with an ash content of 104 grams...
I'm no longer sure what I should do now... Should I reset the ash counter to 50, and then have the diesel particulate filter flushed at 240,000 km?

If the DPF has been replaced (and you are not driving the tractor with 30 liters per 100 kilometers), then the replacement was probably not done completely.
The exchange also includes resetting the ash mass.
That part really has to handle a lot, because based on my calculations and my not-so-economical burning rate, I'm already approaching almost 200,000 kilometers before I produce 60 grams of ash.

Du muesstest also 6,9 * (0.59/0.293) fast 14 l/100km verbrauchen !?!??!?!
Irgendwas stimmt da aber gewaltig nicht.
I'm sorry, I don't quite understand something here.
If I were to use your calculation and substitute different values, I no longer arrive at a real-world result.
I'm going to assume that I have collected 104 grams of ash over a distance of 55,000 kilometers (this is just an example calculation).
So, 104g / 55000 = 0.00189, which is approximately 0.000189 (shifting the decimal point three places to the left).
Okay, then (0.000189 / 0.293) * 6.9 = 0.00445.
That would mean that the more ash I have, the less I've consumed!
I don't understand anything anymore .
My fuel consumption, according to the vehicle's onboard computer, is approximately 7.5 liters.
Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English. I'm ready when you are!
Best regards, michi.

I just removed a few powers of ten (which are then expressed in the unit "whatever" ).
I calculated based on 104 grams per 176,000 kilometers. This results in a "smoke emission index." So, it's a value that increases as the vehicle produces more smoke.
104/176 = 0.59
If you now want to claim that the 104 grams were only added after the exchange:
104/55 = 1.89
I consume 6.9 and waste 0.293.
So, if you're driving with a Russian index of 1.89 (since the adjustment), you'll have to consume more fuel – assuming that our vehicles produce the same amount of soot from the same diesel.
6. 9 * (1.89 / 0.293) = 44 liters per 100 kilometers.
No matter when your filter was replaced, it's producing nonsense.
Therefore, it's possible that the technician wasn't skilled enough to properly set the diagnostic tool and instead entered a random value into the engine control unit (ECU), likely a much too high value instead of a zero for the ash mass.
Nobody knows for sure anymore, and you're stuck with that grumpy old thing.
"Quite decent would be:"
- swap again.
- Truly 0g ash programming.
But that costs money!

Did this statement come from a Volkswagen dealership, or was it from the company with the red flags?
At Volkswagen, checking the ash mass is part of the regular maintenance schedule starting at 120,000 km (approximately 75,000 miles).
