Sharan 7N1 Brake Parts & Accessories

Apparently, there are two different brake systems available for the Sharan. One uses the PR code 1LW with a 314 mm disc, and the other uses the PR code 1LJ with a 312 mm disc.

In my service manual, the code 1LW is listed. However, when searching through the parts catalogs, I've noticed that the 314 model is quite rare, and there are no sport brake discs available for it.

In an Alhambra forum, I read that the 314 disc brake rotor has been used more recently (since around 2014), and therefore a sport brake rotor is not yet available. However, my Sharan was first registered in January 2011.

Who can provide clarification here?

What exactly is the question? Is it about whether there are no sport brake discs available? If the question is about speculation regarding when certain parts were installed, you are already providing the answer. I also had the 314 model in a 7-seater with 177 hp from 2013. If you look at all the combinations of seats and engine in the owner's manual, along with the weights, it might make sense to have different brake systems. However, the difference is less about the 2 mm more in diameter and more about the completely different brake caliper. If I remember correctly, I was surprised by the significant price difference between the pads and discs.

Based on the part number and an invoice, I know that I installed the 314 model.

It's probably the case.

I don't want to speculate too much, as it's based on incomplete knowledge. It's possible that the 312 models are used in the Passat (Golf, etc.) and therefore in many vehicles. I think I once saw the 314 model in an older Touareg (because of the different seat shape). Since you can't find any, they might not exist, which supports the theory. Why would anyone offer them if the market is too small?

Answer from EBC: Currently not planned, because it is rarely used.

I suspected that. That's why I asked if it's particularly unusual considering its dimensions.

314mm x 30mm to 312mm x 25mm.

As I said, it's a completely different type of brake. It's probably a makeshift solution to fit within the 16-inch rim. As I said, it's all speculation.

It's likely that the 314 x 30 format is uncommon throughout the entire automotive industry, as the drilling itself shouldn't be the problem.

The A8 D2 would have had dimensions of 314x30, but unfortunately, it has 10mm more pot depth. I also think it was referring to 16-inch rims.

Is it possible that VW might potentially prohibit the production of brake discs of this size?
