Hello,
Soon, the Ibiza will need to have its brake discs replaced due to rust.
Since I tend to coast a lot and brake less frequently, my brake rotors are more prone to rusting than to wearing out. Therefore, they probably don't last as long as they would for someone who brakes more often, and likely wear out faster.
What can I expect from the new "Economy" windshields from the original VAG range, given this driving profile?
The JZW615301G "Eco" model has a list price of €110, while the standard 8N0615301A model costs €151.
If "Eco" only means more durable and not more prone to rust, I would definitely choose the "Eco" option.
But with my luck, it will probably be the opposite .
BTW: In the past, there used to be specially corrosion-resistant windshields called "Geomet" or something similar, and they cost the same as the regular windshields. They seem to have disappeared from the market... does anyone know why?
Gruß Ulf

Perhaps the "coat z" coating, for example, from Zimmermann brake discs, would be the right choice for you.

More answers are welcome, but please keep the exactly as it is.

What's wrong with occasionally applying the brakes more forcefully, even when driving in a brake-friendly manner, to regularly remove any initial corrosion? Could the combination of brake pads with a higher friction coefficient and corresponding thermally resistant rotors potentially be your solution?
I bought and installed Zopp NK Heavy brake discs and EBC Green Stuff brake pads. This stuff lasts and lasts. Initially, they were slightly worse than the Peugeot factory equipment when cold. Afterwards, the brakes bite better than the OEM stuff. So far, after approximately 140,000 km (!), I haven't managed to wear out the discs or pads. The discs remain rust-free on the running surfaces with regular normal use. However, after driving in the rain, the pads rust onto the discs within a few hours and release with a loud bang when starting. This happened relatively early on, and it still happens to this day. However, the resulting marks can be quickly sanded off.
Just think about it, the material itself doesn't cost that much.

Good evening.
I've had very bad experiences with Zimmermann brake discs.
Okay, they had drilled holes and EBC Green Stuff pads, but after 20,000 km, the rotors and pads were so worn that I barely had any braking power. After 25,000 km, I removed the rotors because I considered them a safety hazard.
They had some pretty severe cracks... that was nothing.
Currently, I'm using brake discs and pads from TEXTAR and I'm satisfied with them.

Initially, the mechanics always had problems with them, as they would simply break. Apparently, that issue has been resolved, but I've bought more since then. The NK Heavy brake pads I bought from Teile Klaus still work on my Peugeot 206, and I'm not even sure if they're still available. I haven't had any bad experiences with ATE Powerdisc and EBC Green brake pads on my Citroen Saxo 1.6 VTS either; they work well together.

Take a look at the accessories... the last few sets of ATE brake discs I've seen were somehow coated with a silver layer all around. At least, the ones I've seen regularly have shown almost no rust so far.

And original VW windshields also have that.
There's even an instruction on how to slow them down, because the layer remains on during assembly.

The protection against corrosion is applied to many brake discs today; a nice side effect is that they don't look so rusty (outside the tire area) during operation, and when installing them, the good old brake cleaner stays in the tube .

Well, it's a bit more complicated than that.
But of course, I did it differently:
The initial braking should be done in reverse, so that the silver rubber piece gets caught on the bottom of the pads and is later removed, rather than being worked into the mechanism.

The ATE brake discs, size 312, for this car are also coated. Both the "Power Disc" shown in the picture and the standard version without the groove are coated.

HI,
Are the original VW parts not made by ATE?
I thought there was even the ATE logo on my brake pads (still original equipment from the factory).

I've also already removed some from TRW, which had the VW logo on them.

ATE manufactures many brake discs, not just for VW. But not all of them. Ulf would need to check if these are specifically made by ATE.
I once even removed a Ferodo brake disc from the rear of an A3. It was also an original equipment (OE) part with a VW part number. The car was less than 3 years old.
