Hello dear community,
After a long search on the www, I'm starting a thread here to share my solution to the puzzle
Vehicle:
Passat Variant 3BG
MKB: BGW with DPF
KM 205.000km
Regarding my problem, for the past 2 days, I've been hearing a loud "popping/knocking" sound (however you would describe it) coming from the engine compartment.
I can't say exactly how long it has been, as I had been driving for approximately 60 km on the main road before I stopped and noticed it, and it became noticeably louder as I pressed the accelerator.
I stopped immediately to investigate, but at that time I found nothing.
Upon arriving home, I checked the oil level, and to my surprise, there was almost 1 liter over the normal level!?!
Initially, I thought the noise was coming from the area of the air filter. After checking the intake hoses for leaks, I noticed that the noise was still present even after removing the hose after the turbo and LLK (only the AGR and intake bridge remained). This indicates that the noise is coming from the engine!?!
My question is therefore, what is this noise, and what does it have to do with the rapidly increasing engine oil (PD-element defective)? If so, how can I best check it?
No fault codes present. The engine is running normally and smoothly on all 4 cylinders. There is no noticeable power loss or any jerking!
Last oil change before 10,000 km. So far, very little oil consumption has been detected. Oil change intervals are approximately every 15,000 km since I have owned the vehicle.
I have made 2 videos regarding the noise, one with the intake system closed and the other with only the AGR valve connected.
Also a Log MWB 13
I hope you can help me further
