Hello everyone,
I have an A6 with a production date of January 14, 2015, and I wanted to unlock the hidden menu of the MMI. However, it seems that the internal workings of the control unit are different after the facelift, because the dropdown menu shows me well over a hundred entries that I can't really assign to channel 6.
Are there any new findings on this yet? Or what do you need in order to prepare VCDS for the control unit?
Thank you in advance for your responses.
Best regards.

Hello Jörg,
Correcting instructions on other websites is not our job. Your vehicle is very new, so please first post a car scan so that we can identify which control units are installed and how they are coded.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi there,
Your information is a bit incomplete.
It concerns the control unit for information electronics, and specifically its adaptation channels. You can either find these channels using the label (which represents a documented adaptation channel), or by entering the channel number directly.
What you want to enable is the development test mode.
Before you make any changes, first create detailed records of the main menu and submenus (as displayed on the MMI), and especially document the coding of the control unit beforehand.
What are you planning to do?

Hi there,
First of all, thank you for your quick responses. I unfortunately forgot to attach the Autoscan – it was probably a bit late – but it's attached now.
The control unit for information electronics (5F) appears to have been changed with the facelift, as there is currently no labeling file available.
When I select "Long Coding" in VCDS, the error message "Control unit not recognized" appears. And under "Adaptation," I don't find the channels I'm familiar with (1 to x), but instead over 100 entries that are numbered with repeating digits (sometimes 1 to 5, then 1 to 10, etc.).
Perhaps you can find out if a new label file is already being worked on.
Thank you very much and have a wonderful Sunday.
Jörg.

Then you should a) first install the current VCDS release and b) the correct release: See the customer account on the shop's website.

Hello Rainer,
I don't understand this. What I can download from the customer shop is version 14.10.1, and that's what I have installed. Or have I missed something?
Best regards,
Jörg.

Yes.
VCDS Version: DRV 14.10.0.0 ist vom Januar. So, quite old.
Currently, the available VCDS version is either 14.10.2 or a 15.x beta version.

Guys, what's going on here? Isn't it logical to use software that is compatible with the hardware?
The car scan was performed using an outdated version with obsolete data.
Before fiddling around with a brand new car, wouldn't it be more appropriate to check for the latest software updates?
Why do people complain about missing labels and then still post things from outdated versions, specifically the Autoscan feature?
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Mulle,
vielen Dank für den Tipp. Finde nach wie vor nur die Version 14.10.1. Nur ist leider mein Problem damit noch nicht behoben.

Greetings, Rainer | .
What I do with my new car is my problem, and I have never complained about missing labels, but rather politely asked questions and received presumptuous answers from you.
Regards,
Jörg.

Leute.... nun haltet mal den Ball flach. Der 1. Scan wurde mit 14.10.0 durchgeführt.... fürs Fahrzeug vielleicht zu alt.

14.10.0.0 was found in the scan from January 26, 2015. Just to avoid any confusion.
Unfortunately, I am also unable to contribute anything substantial.

Hello Jörg,
Quote: | | I find it rude when someone tells me to use the latest version. |
In the first file you posted, it does not use the version stored in the customer account, but rather an older one.
The other two data sets you posted belong to the English beta version and not to any current German version.
The responsibility still lies with you; you have yet to provide a current German vehicle scan for the car.
The reason I'm sticking with the current version for the car scan is that the label file selected by VCDS for the control unit determines what information the program actually displays.
And: The English versions, including the beta versions, don't always have the same labels; this is NOT the same thing!
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
14.10.2 found.
You can find the Autoscan in the attachment. Yesterday, I accidentally posted the scan of the RossTech beta version twice; you are absolutely right about that.
With that, the ball would be back with you .
Best regards,
Jörg.

Then let's get back to the topic.
Den Entwicklungstestmodus schaltest Du im STG für Infromationselektronik frei. Below.
Adaptation > Choose a documented adaptation channel.
You should be able to find the entry called "Development Test Mode".
Do you see what I mean? Your previous answers on that point were a bit confusing; it might also seem like you're mixing up the value selection for individual entries with adaptation channels. I certainly don't want to question your technical expertise.
Perhaps you should take a Screenshot of what you're seeing before proceeding, so that the entire system doesn't crash. The descriptions on other websites can sometimes be quite cryptic.

Hello Herbert,
Thank you for your reply, and don't worry, you're not questioning my mechanical skills; I'm just not a professional, and if what I read doesn't match what I see on the vehicle, I ask questions. And until I know exactly what I'm doing, I won't be messing around with any control units.
I've attached the requested Screenshot here, and the "Developer Mode" entry is number 50 in the dropdown menu, which contains several hundred entries. You can see what I meant in my first post; there are no more numbered customization options available.
Best regards,
Jörg.
