The manual only states that the LED must light up green after 2 seconds, and if it lights up red, it indicates a fault/wiring problem.

I had the problem today that the LED was orange and there was no connection. What does this indicate?

Hallo,

klickst Du den "Anschlusstest" Button in den VCDS Programmeinstellungen, der aufpoppende Dialog sagt dann, was das Problem ist.

Wobei CAN natürlich nur "bereit" sein kann, wenn es auch an der Diagnosebuchse anliegt. Dies ist nicht bei allen Modellen der Fall.
Bei den K-Lines steht dann im Fehlerfall explizit da "Kurzschluss nach Masse" bzw. "... Plus".
