Hello everyone!

I just replaced the rear brake pads and rotors on my T5. They were really exhausted.

Occasionally, a warning message appears indicating that the front brake pads are worn. They actually still look quite good.

Therefore, I thought I could use VCDS to read out which pads are actually responsible for the display.
However, unfortunately, there are no entries in the error memory.

My questions to you are therefore:
"Is there also an indicator in the cockpit for the rear brake pads?" After all, they have a sensor.
2. Is there a way to read the status of the sensors using VCDS?

Thank you in advance!

Hi Stolly! icon_wink.gif

Here's a translation:

First of all: It would be great if you also entered your vehicle(s) in the profile section, then people wouldn't always have to ask silly questions icon_wink.gif.

Unfortunately, I cannot translate the provided text because it is incomplete. It ends abruptly with "Beim T5 werden (m." and lacks context. To provide an accurate translation, I need the full sentence or paragraph. Depending on the suspension/manufacturer, the system either monitors the front and rear pads diagonally, or all pads are monitored for wear.

However, it is always a series connection, starting from the AI, passing through the layers, and then to ground.
"Therefore, VCDS cannot be used to pinpoint the exact location of the fault, just like with the wiring."

I once had a "temporary" error message, and it turned out the cable connected to the brake pad itself was broken (due to corrosion). Even though it happened, I still replaced them at that time because they were close to the wear limit.

Best regards from Munich!

Hi DieselBear!

Um, I'm entering the vehicles, okay! icon_smile.gif

Thank you for your reply!
Only the right-hand surface is monitored at the rear. Probably the left one is in the front.

Okay, I'm going to take a closer look at the front brakes!

What Dieselbär says is absolutely correct.

Sometimes the connectors come loose, the cables oxidize and then break off, or a pin gets bent during a pad replacement. I've experienced all of these issues. I've even seen a plug with a "loop" attached to it -> so it works perfectly fine, but of course, it's not monitored in that case.

@stolleyViewing profile: stolley: Of course, there's a measurement block that displays the status of the monitored brake pads.
