Hello forum, I replaced the DPF on my Touran (engine code BLS) and I can't reset the ash mass using VCDS. What am I doing wrong? I would be very grateful for a guide. I used Rainer's guide "Adjusting the ash mass or oil ash volume" as a template, but I haven't been able to get it to work. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Then welcome, and for you as well:

1) Autoscan
2) Describe your problem.

If you reread your post critically, you (hopefully) will realize that, even with the best intentions, you don't seem to understand how to ask for help. What's not working? VCDS is giving the following message. Which channel are you unable to find? Please try to provide more details.

... and for VCDS, please also provide a Screenshot of the screen where you adjust the ash mass or ash volume. Depending on the control unit, there may be slight differences. icon_idea.gif

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello forum, I've uploaded the Autoscan data and screenshots. Before removing the old DPF, I performed a regeneration while driving using VCDS.
The temperature rose to 870°C, but by shifting to a higher gear and reducing the engine speed, it dropped back down to 780°C. The DPF has discolored slightly on the outside, and it's light gray on the inside. I'll post some pictures. Thank you for your help. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Yes, and? icon_eek.gif The forced regeneration doesn't empty the DPF, do you understand what you're doing?

Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.
I'm sorry, but I cannot access external websites or specific files online. Therefore, I am unable to translate the text from the provided URL.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer, I forced a regeneration on the old DPF, removed it, and installed a new one. Now I want to reset the ash mass to 0. I would like to verschandeln the old DPF and reinstall it if necessary. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Wolfgang, okay, that's good. What does VCDS say if you first click "Test" and then "Apply" when the value is 0?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer, everything is OK, icon_smile_thumb_up.gif on Sunday I tried to set the "ash value" for channel 12 to 0 in the engine control unit adaptation. It didn't work. You could only set 0 in the "New Value" field, and I also pressed "Test." "Apply" was not grayed out, perhaps because I closed the instruction (speech bubble).

A guide for resetting the ash mass after a DPF replacement, for someone like me icon_redface.gif who is a VCDS beginner, would be: Engine control unit, adaptation channel 12, delete the "new value" and enter 0, press "test", press "accept", and that's it.
This is definitely not a criticism, but rather an idea to make it easier for beginners, and it will give you more time for more important things. Perhaps, depending on the type of MSG installed, it may also need to be operated differently each time. Excellent forum. icon_smile_thumb_up.gif icon_smile_thumb_up.gif Thank you, Wolfgang.

Engine control unit, adjust channel 12, delete "new value", enter 0, press "test", press "apply", done.

It's great that it worked out. icon_smile.gif
