Can anyone tell me how thick the stop is on an SB engine that limits the extension of the valve guide?

It seems to vary, but in my case, it was about 5mm.
A 12mm PA (polyamide) hose fits quite well for this.

Okay, thanks. I previously used 4mm, but I only had 2mm left, which was a bit too little considering the reduced LD (light diffusion).

The nozzle is asymmetrical, and twisting it allows for good fine-tuning.
